Does anyone here watch Fringe? After seeing like half of the pilot in 2008 or whenever, I dismissed it as a bad cop sci-fi show with even worse CGI.

I took it up again over Christmas and have now seen the entirety of the first three seasons. I am in love! I need Season 4! It's such a smartly written show. I can't believe I doubted it for so long. I'm sorry Fringe. I'm sorry, Walter Bishop. I think I may even owe Walternate an apology.

We're half way through season one at the moment... we keep accidentally watching it when it's time for food. It's often not one you should eat with really.

It's definitely not a suppertime show!

Are you tempted to get Astrid's name hilariously wrong all the time now though? I'd for sure be really annoying and do that all the time!

It's brilliant! From about half way through the first season I mean (before that it's still good mind).

Season 4 is a bit of a curveball, and has been a bit controversial with the fans, but it's shaping up to be really good again. Just hope they get their 5th season...

That is about the from good to brilliant point, yeah! The finale of the second season took it to genius for me, and then that L.S.D. episode in the third was just "wow!"

I hope it doesn't get canceled!

The funny thing about that is, all the ways Walter has got show-Astrid's name wrong so far, have all happened to actual Astrid.

Yep... we just heard confusion over astral projection... that's not happened.

To be fair Swedes get confused about my name... I was Janne the other day.

I like Fringe!
I watched it by accident one time because my mum's really into it (and therefore I assumed it would be shit) but I've been a little bit hooked since!
Sometimes there are sly little references that I like. Like when Walter had those glasses he got from 'Dr Jacoby' (Twin Peaks).

Brilliant programme! Though it went off the boil slightly in the last series - after pulling the "reset switch" trope. Not good when you're hooked on the long arc storyline.

I've been watching this recently. I'm up to season 3 episode 4 now, I think. Season 5 (the last) has just started, hasn't it?

It has. It's only a half season (13 episodes), but its ace that they've been allowed to do it. Ratings have never been high.

Sometimes not so subtle, like in the episode I watched today where Nina Stark is going through William Bell's stuff, and it shows 'Dr. Spock's Baby and Child Care'. It still made me smile, of course.

I liked the look on his face when she called him Wally.

I've completely caught up now and just watched the second episode of season 5. It's different, this one, but I like it.

Spoiler: show
Are they going to reset this timeline again? I wasn't a fan of that in season 4.

Totally caught up (episode 7 of the current season) and I have (long) theory about what's going to happen:

Spoiler: show
Peter turns out to be the first Observer after he implanted himself with the Observer tech (in an episode called "An Origin Story" no less). In fact he turns out to be September the friendly Observer. That's why he went back to save Walter and Peter when they fell through the ice that time.

Because there's only one Peter now, the Observers only exist in Earth 1. The only time we saw them in Earth 2 is when September distracted Walternate when he discovered the cure for whatever Peter was dying from (I think anyway, it blows a hole in my theory if not). Peter/September on Earth 2 realised he had to sacrifice himself to stop the Observer invasion, so made sure 10 year old him died.

I reckon Peter on Earth 1 will realise the same thing (thanks to Olivia most likely) and go back to stop Walter from taking Peter from Earth 2. This will of course mean that there are no Fringe events and the whole series never happened.

They have form in this kind of time travel loop thing, because Peter sent all the parts of the machine that bridged the worlds back in time when he got sent to the future that time.

Just a theory anyway. All part of the fun innit?

Edit: Just to say I'm absolutely loving this final season. The writing, acting and directing has been amazing in every episode. I'm really sad that there's only 5 episodes left.

I was thinking the same thing about September! Though your theory is a little more fleshed out.

I've also been loving this season. While I'm sad to see it ending, I'm glad it's not dragging on forever, and it seems to be getting the ending it deserves. Also someone needs to give John Noble an award, because it's a shame he's hardly recognized for what he's done with Walter Bishop.

Interesting theory. I haven't been giving it any active thought myself, but it sounds quite plausible!

Now I'm not sure about your theory anymore. Is it still possible with his altered brain, or will Peter go back to being human Peter?

Yeah, I think my theory is pretty much wrong now. At least the show can surprise me!
