ODD BOX Presents:

THE MONORALS (Japan)
http://www.myspace.com/themonorals
A Blast of Japanese Garage rock, tunes the size of mountains and what is sure to be a blast of energetic rock n roll. Over from Japan for this, The Monorals will BLOW you away. In Japan they've recently supported The Wedding Present! With releases on Cisumatiug Records in Japan and Odd Box Records in London!

THE HILLFIELDS
http://www.myspace.com/thehillfields
One of London's finest indiepop bands have come a long way in a short time. They opened for The Pains of Being Pure at Heart @ the famous Lost Music show at the Buffalo Bar back in 2008 since then - with releases on Cloudberry Records and Underused Records - the band have honed their sound to a perfect blend of old school indie and top pop tunes. Their debut LP 'It'll Never Be The Same Again' was a wonderful blend of doomy indiepop recalling greats like Echo and the Bunnymen, The House of Love and The Jesus and Mary Chain. They've recently released a new record - the rather gorgeous 'Come Outside ep'.

THE SEQUINS
http://www.myspace.com/thesequinsspace
The Sequins are a four piece indie-pop band based in Coventry, England. They make pop songs with guitars. Simple. With releases on Tough Love Records and Indie-MP3 Records - the band sound has developed over time and their ability to turn out twisted indiepop is not to be under estimated.

"If The Sequins was a place, it would surely be a land of magical enterprises; a spell-binding flurry of sparkle- located somewhere near to Narnia" - Music in Objectivity

SOCK PUPPETS (Denmark)
http://www.myspace.com/socksandpuppets
The Give It Ups (ODD BOX favourites) recomended Sock Puppets after playing with them in Denmark. And it's hard to disgaree with their recommendation - just listen to the ramshackle live takes on their My Space and fall in love with fuzzy guitar pop all over again.

Sockpuppets sound is an indiepop explosion of fun. I hear their live shows are something to be seen. So an opening band not to be missed.

Guest DJ: Paul from SCARED TO DANCE

Also starring ODD BOX goodies and some fab happy hour prices for the ice cool cocktails.

A week before Indietracks - come get in the mood!

Well that was a lot of fun!

Thanks to all the bands for making it run so smoothly. All of the bands were superb!

And I really have to say special 'THANK YOU' to the Monorals who flew all the way from Japan just to play this show. They are probably the loudest band I've heard in years - beautiful screes of MBV noise melded over some punk rockin' tunes.

And it was great to see friends old and new, too. So thanks to all of you that made the show.

thanks for having us again Trev, it was a groovy afternoon all told

so we'll look forward to seeing you at indietracks.. hopefully we'll be sounding abit better, (damn my couple of screw ups) ... and i think carlos's back is on the mend :)

i'll be bringing my acoustic along just in case on the off chance there's a little opportunity for some mellow acoustic versions of hillfields songs round a campfire...

I really like the Notting Hill Arts Club/ROTA! Had never been before. Excellent little cocktail menu too. Gotta love cocktail happy hour - wahoo. Do they ever do night time gigs?

I missed some of the bands because I've had soooo much to do to get ready for all my international Indietracks houseguests and I needed to get to the shops before they closed but I enjoyed the part of the afternoon I was at. Danes! <3 (That'd be the Sock Puppets.)

I loved The Sock Puppets from when I'd seen them before, but they were even better than ever! They all enjoyed their first London show, and you can catch them at the Baby Honey gig on Thursday too. Real love every Odd Box RoTa show I've been to.

Having The Specific Heats turn up at my house later that evening was SURREAL.
