Here's a date for your diary this summer.

Cherry Coloured Pop and Cherryade Records Present...

GOING UP THE COUNTRY
Saturday 2nd June 2012
The Church House, Buxton Road, Congleton, Cheshire. CW12 2DY

Bands: 1pm - 10.30pm
Clubnight: 10.30pm - 2am

Image

This is a one day event held in the beautiful grounds of the Church House pub and restaurant and currently the line up so far is Help Stamp Out Loneliness and A Fine Day For Sailing. Many more bands will be announced shortly for both the main stage and Acoustic tent.

DJs for the club night are Kev & Linda (Cherry Coloured Pop) and Jamie (Kissing Just For Practice).

There are camping spots available in the pubs grounds. (Edit: Camping is £10 per tent)

I hope many of you make the trip over for this, it's in aid of a fantastic charity (Christie's hospital in Manchester) and besides which, it'll be a right lovely day with some lovely bands and a lovely clubnight to dance at to round the evening off. It'll be a nice warm up for Indietracks which isn't a million miles away either.

Admission TBC. I've not been told what the admission is for this but I think it may be a nominal donation of some kind. (Edit: Admission: £10 advance, £13 on the day & Free for Under 12 popkids)

I'll be there. It's the closest I'm ever likely to come to being at a popshow in Crewe. Just 12 miles from my hometown!

In off the red!

Anyway, an update...

New bands announced (ooh, I feel like the guy who runs Primavera!):

POCKETBOOKS
THE FIREWORKS
A LITTLE ORCHESTRA

I've also some news on the camping. It's £5 per person. I think kids will be free but I'll confirm that.

I have absolutely no idea what that means.

And yes. Better still I'll be PLAYING in Congleton. Who knew?

My best friend's mum already promised to come. She has really big hair.

I am a little bit ashamed to have missed that, as a compulsive Partridge quoter. But I still don't know what it actually means...

Is it perhaps the snooker version of "back of the net"? I also missed it though despite being a Partridge quoter....

How many bands are playing, Jamie? We're both right up for this, anyway.

Not sure, but there should be a few given it's on from 1pm right through til 10.30pm, with an acoustic marquee too.

That poster makes me even more gutted that we weren't able to commit to playing. Bloody work commitments! Don't think I can justify making the trip down so close to indietracks either. Looks brilliant though.

Tickets are for sale from.... NOW!

Tickets here

£10 advance tickets and it's free for any under 12 popkids.

The capacity is 400 for the bands, acoustic tent and workshop, while the indiepop disco afterwards is 200. We've had a really, really great response on that Facebook and Twitter thing so do pick up advance tickets as soon as you can. Pretty sure this will sell out.

We've also had a half confirmation off a certain indiepop band who I'm sure tons of people like them here. They are waiting on word to be able to fit it in as they are touring around then so we'll keep them as a mystery until nearer the time. And no, it's not Razorlight.

And Pete, you should so come mate. We could probably be able to fit you in the acoustic tent

Blimey.

Graced with the Wedding Present, Yuck, and The History of Apple Pie at last years, otherwise very disappointing, Friends of Mine festival and now this! Us Cheshire dwelling folk are being spoiled.
