A few more pictures...

The Rocky Nest audience about ten minutes before it got packed

The most excited Rocky Nest fans were those who got to see their day play guitar, thomasintrouble's lovely kids and their cousin in the front row next to the sound guys, enthusiastically clapping along

Sunny Saturday. I literally sat on the same blanket for 6 hours. Then we moved it and I sat there for another two, haha.

On the Sunday, apart from the pics of The Smittens I only really took paparazzi style pictures of Emelie and Annika getting to meet Amelia Fletcher. I told them to act as the fangirls they were and get a picture with her, and off they went! It was very sweet to watch:

Ray Rumours! Ray Rumours! Utterly magical in the church. Playing their album now and it's wonderful.
Stereo Total. So funny and so much fun. The stage invasion was hilarious - watching the most unlikely collection of people that I knew freaking out on stage, shouting "I hate everybody!" Brezel stage dived at the end, Damian - obviously inspired by the night before!
The Talulah Gosh reunion. Five songs beamed direct from my youth. I got a bit emotional during "Don't Go Away".
Teenage Fanclub. Just magnificent, despite the rain. The first two new songs they played sounded great. The Ray one took a while to settle in but when they started with the three part harmonies and the krauty bit - oh, just wonderful. And Norman's Geddy Lee song was fantastic too. Can't wait for the new album.
Cats On Fire. Just on stunning form. The best I've ever seen them.
The School. They've always been great, but they've suddenly become incredible. Simon joining the band makes it all click. He is the click. He has been informed of this.
The "Higher And Higher" singalong on Saturday night.
The atmosphere in the marquee tent on Friday and Sunday nights.
Glowstick dancing with Elizabeth and Helen to Disasteradio. Generally just hanging out at the merch stall.
Bonne Idee on Sunday morning. Their version of "Not So Much To Be Loved As To Love" was magical.
The booming Spectoresque tunnel of reverb sound for Butcher Boy's "Girls Make Me Sick". Never heard the song or the band sound so immense.
A lovely slice of apple pie.
The apple and raspberry drink from the Veggie Burger stall. The food stalls in general. A huge improvement. Good to have more toilets too. An outside bar next? Would be nice.
Everyone singing along to Pocketbooks.
Ray Rumours!

And, like, hundreds of other tiny moments. Chatting with so many friends, new and old, and generally feeling right at home.

That was top top top fun:

Highlights:

Downdime. A nice noisy start to the Saturday.
Ale. Lots of real ale. All of it delicious.
Let's Whisper on the train. So much fun.
Sunday: Northern Portrait. Smittens. Pocketbooks. All in a row. Just so good.
Ste McCabe was my 'find' of the weekend. Angry Gay Pop. Loved it.
Pete Green in the Church was a charm as was matloob magicing up a guitar from thin air after Pete broke a string in the first song.
The food. 100% improved. Some lovely curry and veggie burgers.

Strangely was early to bed each night. So didn't get to try the discos.

A low point. The official Manhattans split announced on a packed train. Adam, Rachel and Friend did a stirling Medusa Snare set instead - so even that cloud had a pop flavoured silver lining.

I am sure I forget things. But, yeah, happy times. Getting into a drinking round with Ian Horowitz on the Sunday could have been a disaster. It wasn't. It was joyous fun.

Had a cracking time as well;

Great Things

Butcher Boy – Sounding magnificent, John’s voice booming around the train shed.
BMX Bandits - First time I’d seen them with Rachel and they were better than ever, lots of old classics played.
Lucky Soul – Despite the rain driving half the audience away they were still determined to have a good time and so did we.
Cats on Fire – Only saw the 2nd half of their set but the crowd were going mad
Teenage Fan Club – Was quite wet by this stage and thought I’d just watch a few songs but so many classics I stayed to the end.

Other Good Things

Frank and Walters
Bigger festival but really just the same
Tender Trap
Real Ale
The School
Jolly Train Staff
Art Brut

Funny Things

Art Brut drummer falling off stage
The power in the marquee going off everytime I walked in (sorry)
Duglas Bandit
Bodmin Tank Museum
Frank & Walters impromptu keep it up competition when power went
DisasterRadio
Taxi Driver to Travelodge "I had them 'Wake the president' lads in earlier, lovely chaps"

Bad Things

Rain
Not seeing the Talulah Gosh re-union – about an hour late my mate casually mentioned “Oh Amelia was in the tent with some other people earlier”
Queue for Pete Green and Gordon Ballboy
Not getting in to see Pete Green and Gordon Ballboy
Forgetting to go and see Specific Heats

wow.

i was dubious as to how it would cope with the increase in people, but it was brilliant. perfect. the loaction of the elefant stage worked wonderfully as a lot of people could sit out in the (saturday) sun. the organisation was fantastic. well done everyone.

highlights!
gordon mcintyre was beautful in the church.
dancing to cats on fire was joyous.
the whole of the sunday afternoon in the shed.
the donkeys.
the fact that the elefant stage got so far behind that all the cats on fire/camera obscura clash nonsense was irrlevant.
ray rumours.
pete green's train whistles.
hefty disco dancing and impromptu ukelele playing when the decks overheated in the marquee on sunday.

i'm not even disappointed i didn't see the talulah gosh get-together (okay, well maybe i am a little). and wasn't there some sort of solo besties going on on saturday? i caught the last 14 seconds of that. i'm never in the right place at the right time. what else did i miss?

Oh my god I'd completely forgotten about al casa azul...that was amazing! I was all ready to hate him (and I suspect many other people felt the same) but it was SO fun and I totally fell in love with him. Awww he was so sweet! I can't remember exactly what he kept saying, something along the lines of "Oh I'm just so happy, you don't understand, for me, this is, I'm so happy" and you just knew that everyone was grinning wildly at him thinking I'm so happy and I love you. It was so lovely and surreal that everyone just danced like crazy with huge grins, to europop, in a field, in Derby. I manned my badges on the merch stand a lot of the time, but still managed to see lots of bands and have the best weekend ever.

I feel so glum that it's an entire year til the next indietracks. The hangover doesn't help.

Thank you to anyone who bought a badge, or said hello, or smiled, or played, or danced. It was really really special and lovely and great.

Well that was an amazing weekend! Big thanks from team indietracks to everyone involved in making it such an awesome weekend.

I'd like to say a big thank you to the lovely folk who ran the workshops, everyone was so friendly and enthusiastic. And thanks to Gordon for presenting the quiz at the last minute, he did a wicked job (and yes, next year we will make the quiz easier!). I was so nervous about how the workshops would go but they were such a success, I was so chuffed to see everyone enjoying getting their craft on! And props to tatty devine for designing such lovely jewellery for us.

I'd also like to mention the volunteer stewards and production assistants who all did such a great job. As this was the first year we'd had volunteers we were really learning on the job as to what we were doing and they were so great at dealing with our slightly unorganised and DIY approach to the weekend!

Managed to get to see a few bands in between all the running around at the workshop wigwam, Art Brut, Au Revoir Simone and Camera Obscura were lovely though Stereo Total were my personal faves of the weekend, was so much fun dancing like an idiot on the stage! Gutted I missed the specific heats and eux autres though, I heard they were both awesome. Louis' DJ set on Sunday was wicked as was all the impromptu acoustic sets.

Now to put those photos on the internet I think!

Too many highlights, but here are some I can remember...

La Casa Azul's cover of Love Is In The Air
Teenage Fanclub doing Starsign
The Smittens
One Happy Island
The Rocky Nest (a perfect start to my Saturday)
All the Spanish popsongs being played in the loco shed after the bands on Sunday

The reaction to the Juggernaut's set was by far the most magical moment for me though, and something I'm going to remember for the rest of my life. Thank you so much to everyone who came to watch us...
