Glasgow Popfest Dec 2010. The line up so far..

Fri 3rd: The Occasional Flickers, The Paraffins, Asleep, The Understudies & The Felt Tips
Sat 4th: The Power Cut Choir, The Belle Hops, Panther Society, Leaving Mornington Crescent
Pale Man Made, The Lovely Eggs & Zipper + Unite club
Sun 5th: The Social Services, The Just Joans, Maple Leaves, The Electric Pop Group & The Hardy Boys

Saturday is looking like an all-dayer from 3.00pm till 3.00am! Yikes!!

Ticket prices have to be agreed for each day. We have still to decide whether we will have a 3 day pass to all gigs and the club (we're not sure about this?) - what do you think? All tickets will be etickets and available via the Bubblegum website so there will be no booking, admin or postage costs.

Huge thanks to all of the bands that have agreed to play. If you have contacted us about playing and we have not replied, we can only apologise. At this time we are waiting on some confirmations and additional venue information. This will dictate whether we can book any more bands.

We'll add more info soon-ish......

Cheers, Colin. We will, of course, be hoping to rope yourself and Lynsey in on some of the nights. Smiles, G

Hi all,

Anyone of you who has organised an event will know that feeling of it growing arms and legs; making it really difficult to put in that final full stop. Whilst we continue to avoid the full stop (with our hands firmly clasped over our eyes), we are definitely on the home stretch (I think) with Glasgow Popfest. To date the number of bands stands at 25. It really has been incredible fun putting this together and we owe a great debt to the bands and djs that have agreed to be involved.

We will announce an updated line up for the 3 days in the 1st week of September. We'll make that announcement here and to our mailing list 48 hours before the info is released generally. Day tickets are on sale now. The remaining 3 day passes won't go on sale until the updated line up is announced.

Tickets: Friday 3rd will be £5 advance £6 on the door
Saturday 4th (All-Dayer) will be £10 advance £12 on the door
Sunday 5th (All-Dayer) will be £6 advance £7 on the door

The 3 day pass is £20

For now etickets are only available via http://www.bubblegumrecords.org.uk/tickets

We decided to go with one venue, simply because we all hated the thought of missing any of the bands.

If you are coming from outside Glasgow and haven't a friends place or a floor to sleep on, we have found a hotel very close to the venue that is offering rooms that sleep four for £56 per night (£14 per person per night) cheaper than B&Bs and hostels. This is a limited offer though: http://www.rmghotels.com/ and choose Rennie Macintosh Station Hotel.

We will have a dapper logo and poster ready soon.

We will update info at http://www.bubblegumrecords.org.uk/glasgowpopfest

We hope to see you there.

The Electric Pop Group, Zipper, Lovely Eggs and The Felt Tips all in one weekend. Wow! It's a brilliant line-up. Now, where's my diary!

At last we've decided upon a date for the additional anouncement - it'll be the 2nd of September - a tad more specific than the 1st week of......

"Gasp". I'm free all of those days at work (if I'm still dragging myself there by then).

You should come. It'll be a stamina as well as pop endurance test.

Re: announcement of additional bands. It'll be the 31st August on Anorak and via our mailing list and then everywhere else on the 2nd Sept. We should have the poster ready for the 31st too! Smiles, G

Hi all,

Bubblegum has quite a lot going on at the moment: Glasgow Popfest, 2 ep releases and live shows and the development of For Singles Only. I’ll attempt to provide an outline of each and hopefully that will intrigue you enough to search out more details, come along to some of our shows or buy our lovely, shiny cds.

As you are on our mailing list (or a member of Anorak Forum) you get a sneaky peek at the Popfest line up 48 hours before we put the remaining 3 day passes on sale. AND access to the 3 day passes (£20), NOW! Shhhhhh!
--------------------------------------------------------------

Glasgow Popfest – 3rd, 4th and 5th December
-------------------------------------------------------------

This, the 1st Glasgow Popfest, will be a test of indie stamina over 3 days with 25 bands. Will you be taking the stamina test?

Fri 3rd: The Felt Tips, The Understudies, Asleep, The Occasional Flickers & Johnny Reb
DJs: IndieMP3 (Tom), Half My Heart Beats (Lynsey), Bubblegum (Carlo)

Sat 4th: All-Dayer
The Electric Pop Group, Zipper, Betty and the Werewolves, The Lovely Eggs, Pale Man Made, Leaving Mornington Crescent, The Paraffins, Panther Society, The Hermit Crabs, The Belle Hops & The Power Cut Choir
DJs: IndieMP3 (Tom), Colour Me Pop (Jennifer), Half My Heart Beats (Colin), Bubblegum (Bob)

Sun 5th: All-Dayer
The Hardy Boys, The Orchids, Maple Leaves, The Just Joans, Peter Parker, The Cavalcade, The Social Services, Paisley and Charlie & Always Me Me Me
DJs: Baby, Honey (Anastasia), Half My Heart Beats (Lynsey), Bubblegum (Angela)

3 day passes go on sale on Thursday 2nd September. ON SALE NOW!

Venue, tickets and times can be found at http://www.bubblegumrecords.org.uk/glasgowpopfest
For Tickets: http://www.bubblegumrecords.org.uk/tickets
N.B. when you go to the tickets page the band information will not be updated until 2nd September
i.e. not all bands will be listed.
--------------------------------------------------------------

The Hardy Boys – Under the Piccadilly Clock ep

This magnificent return to the studio by The Hardy Boys makes it quite clear what all the fuss has been about regarding their back catalogue. These 3 new, glorious songs of knowing, loss and yearning cement their reputation as indie pop inspiration. The ep will be launched on the 3rd of September at Pivo Pivo, Glasgow. With guests Johnny Reb and The Recovery Club.

Tickets can be purchased from http://www.bubblegumrecords.org.uk/tickets
This show is part of a UK tour: http://www.bubblegumrecords.org.uk/thehardyboys
--------------------------------------------------------------

Maple Leaves – ep release 23rd October

Their summery, three-minute, folk-tinged pop songs at T in the Park – described by one newspaper as ‘a massive aural hug’ - went down a storm, provoking a tent invasion by flag-waving Canadians and a subsequent appearance on BBC One.

The ep will be launched on the 23rd of October at Pivo Pivo, Glasgow. Guests (tbc)

--------------------------------------------------------------

For Singles Only

All we can say for now is that we will be releasing very limited edition songs for your listening pleasure. The 1st band to release with For Singles only will be Ex-Crush. We hope to have the 1st release out by mid November.

--------------------------------------------------------------

This message would like to self destruct in 30 seconds but has found itself flicking through some records in a local shop.

Smiles,
Bubblegum HQ

Trust me : it will be hard to attend Popfest and discover the city. Very hard I'd say.
