They're called Cheeky Cheeky and the Woodpigeon. Bet you want to see them NOW.

Anyway, I'm here for the Birthday Shenanigans, which means EVERYONE has to come out. No exceptions.

Re: makeup and cosmetics

I use Benefit: Dr Feelgood - I think it's somewhere around £20, but since it lasts ages and it makes your skin look poreless, I think it's probably one of the less frivolous ways I spend my money lately. Plus, you know, the packaging's pretty.

I suddenly realised that he'd been on screen for several minutes before I noticed and managed to switch over. (Then I again, I did fail to notice bagpipe music twice yesterday.) He did have an awfully pained expression on his face, didn't he?

He is kind of unintentionally hilarious, isn't he? I'm all for self-esteem, but there's liking yourself and then there's hilariously over-estimating your own appeal.

I love the idea of tattoos, but everytime I've almost had one done, I've suddenly remembered at the last minute that actually I'm far too fickle to make that kind of a commitment. I just can't think of anything I like enough to want it on my skin forever and ever. Plus, I might get old one day, and ...

In other Glasgow talk, at what point while I was away did the Captain's Rest start getting all the good gigs? Last time I went was about 2003, to see a friend of a friend's band, who sounded like Ocean Colour Scene.

Re: STET this STAT: a grammar emergency thread!

I'm confused, wikipedia says Seònaid is pronounced ˈʃɔːnɛdʒ which (and I have no knowledge of IPA) from wikipedia's help files looks like it should be something like shonnedge. But it's actually Shona? Do I not understand IPA even more than I think I don't understand it? I can only vaguely remember...

Unless Jaynie has since broken into my flat and stolen it back to destroy all the embarrassing photos of everyone. Of which there are some. You urgently need to put up The Best Photo Ever Taken, ie ...

Aww, even though I was only there yesterday it was a stunningly lovely day. Great people, great atmosphere, great bands. It was all...great! Joyce is a bit like Beckett, in that they both have this really intimidating, off-putting reputation, but if you can ignore that and just read them the way you would anything else, they're both fucking funny. (That said, I haven't read Finnegans Wake yet. My tutor's making me go to his FW reading gr...

I'm suffering from a terrible affliction that means I literally CANNOT STOP listening to Tilly & the Wall - Tall Tall Grass. It's not perfect, but it's pretty close.
