Re: Your IndieTracks 2011 Wishlist

Like some others said I'd be happy for it just to go ahead next year, but I would quite like some of the following; Go Sailor The Aislers Set Stereolab Cats On Fire The Ballet Butcher Boy The Hidden Cameras Help Stamp Out Loneliness Jens Lekman Your Heart Breaks Pocketbooks The Icicles And some from...

Re: Indietracks 2010 memories and photos

The downside for me of Indietracks 2010 was that I didn't socialise as much as I would have liked to. Last year I told myself that 2010 would be different, but it wasn't really. My husband and I aren't the most socially adept people and while he's not keen on discos, I enjoy dancing but wouldn't da...

Re: Indietracks 2010 memories and photos

Hope you know how much we all appreciate what you do at Indietracks. You're all amazing! Thirded! Fourthed! Thank you to all the railway staff and volunteers for being so great and always helpful! I think I'll go and have a look into that membership thingy Marianthi and davo mentioned. I was underc...

Re: Indietracks 2010 memories and photos

That was a brilliant weekend! I've just been trying to decribe Indietracks to some colleagues who haven't really been to any music festivals and had assumed it was some big impersonal affair like Reading or T in the Park. I ran out of adjectives to describe how different and better it is from anythi...

Re: Kitchen Q&A (or, Ask Anorak about cooking and stuff)

I've made puff pastry tarts with roast vegetables and goats cheese like that before and it worked really well. Make sure the roasted veg isn't too wet when you add it on top off the pastry or else the base can go a little soggy (that happened to mee the first time I made them). You can make a dead e...

Re: Standard Fare

The thrill they give me is like when I first heard The Delgados many many moons ago, before they got weighed down with expectation and string arrangements. That's a good comparison, Trev. The album is really fantastic, it's the first new music I've heard in a while that has made me just sit and lis...

Re: The Pains of Being Pure at Heart

But i DO like the Pain album a lot. Still need to get a ticket for their Liverpool show, eeeeeek. Me too,to both of those statements. My attempts at convicing people that they really want to go with me have failed so I only need to pick up one ticket anyway, hopefully they wont sell out. It's at th...

Re: Pretty stuff for the house

That's brilliant! I've just moved into a new flat and need a shower curtain, unfortunately I also need a shower curtain rail before I can think about getting a shower curtain. I can't even fit one of those spring loaded ones as there is a window above one end of the bath and the wash basin is at the...

Re: General Chat About Films And That

I saw UP a few weeks ago too. I totally agree about the first 10 minutes being beautifully done, it set up the film really well (and I had a few tears in my eyes during it too). I didn't really know what to expect from it as I had seen a trailer a while ago and it didn't really impress me. I ended u...

Re: what are you cooking for dinner tonight, recipe and all?

I'm going over to my girlfriend's house straight from work today and as I'll probably be pretty knackered after the train journey I've already prepared tonights dinner and brought it with me in tubs ready to cook. I'm going to cook chicken fajitas (yes I know that fajitas are supposed to be with ste...

Re: It's terrific by train

I'm hoping to go to the Lake District one day this weekend (weather dependent) and as I'm going to be starting from Lancaster I'm going to get a Lakes Day Ranger . It costs £17 (or £11.20 if you've got a railcard, which I do) and for that it covers all rail routes, bus routes, boats on Windermere an...

Re: iPods

A radio and camera in a 64GB ipod touch would be exactly up my street. That's pretty much what I've been waiting for before getting a new one, although I would rather have one with more storage I think (I'm being greedy, I know, but I'm not so bothered about the radio and camera). My current ipod i...

Re: P J Harvey secret warm up show - Portsmouth 24/7/09

That sounds really good! I'm sorry I missed it but I did have a great time at Indietracks. I've got my fingers crossed that she'll do another few gigs sometime soon, either solo or with a band would be good. The last few times I saw her before the last tour with John Parish were the solo concerts at...

Thanks for that, Martijn. That's the way I'll be going then.

Re: Train Strikes - Friday/Monday

There appear to be no trains between Sheffields and Alfreton either. This has put a dent in my travel plans. Shit. We can get to Derby on a Crosscountry train and then get a bus from Derby to Indietracks. Simples. I'm confused :( I had a look around timetables and thought I had worked out that I co...

Re: General Stuff People Want to Know

I wanted to get this straight: looking at the Indietracks web site, it's seems that there is a cafe and a shop on the festival site that sell food. Are those the only places on site that have food available? And I presume that one cannot bring in to the site one's own bottled water or snacks? I am ...

Re: General Stuff People Want to Know

I think we're getting into Alfreton just after 1pm. Does anyone know roughly how much a taxi from Alfreton train station to the campsite might cost? I've had a look at buses but from what I can see the H1 bus goes from the bus station, which seems to be quite far away from the train station.

Re: P J Harvey secret warm up show - Portsmouth 24/7/09

I would have loved to have gone to this but I'm going to indietracks and I suppose Portsmouth is a bit too far as well. I saw her a couple of times with John Parish earlier this year and she was really good, a lot more relaxed than most of the previuos times I've seen her (especially in Bristol).

I went to this place when I was up in Glasgow at the weekend. It was so good that we went on Saturday and ended up going again on Sunday. They mix together two flavours of ice cream, two toppings and add your choice of sauce. On Saturday I had chocolate ice cream, coconut and chocolate chip ice crea...
