Re: Nina Nastasia

Does anybody know anything at all about Nina Nastasia's whereabouts / activities? There has been no sight nor sound of her publically for a couple of years... And she was supposed to have had a whole bunch of new songs ready to go at the beginning of 2012...

Hope she is well...

Re: what book are you reading?

I would not like to read Infinite Jest as an e-book. Anyone started, or even finished, The Pale King? I would like to read it very much. I started The Pale King earlier this week (my local library started lending out their copy earlier than they were supposed to, I think.) I've only read the first ...

Re: Kate Bush

Nah no. She's great. The rest of em may be philistines for all I know though :) ... and I think I liked Never Forever or maybe The Hounds of Love better than The Dreaming ... Anyway yeah. Kate Bush! i agree… hounds of love is almost perfect and is probably her best album… but the dreaming is mad, i...

Re: what book are you reading?

Right now I am reading "Dead Souls" by Nikolai Gogol and a book about the recent international relations of the Korean peninsula. Both are fun. was dead souls a success?... it's been sitting on my sideboard for the last 6 months waiting its turn... just finished the fall by albert camus... just sta...

Kate Bush

is surely the greatest artist ever...

...and "the dreaming" is surely one of the most melodic, far-out, experimental albums...

plus she was a bit of a gorgeous creature, especially around the time of the army dreamers & babooshka videos...

kate bush everybody!

Re: Nina Nastasia

I had my first listen to this... I'm a bit worried she's forgotten how to write a song...

I will reserve judgement for now but Side 'B' appears to be waaaaay better than Side 'A'.... unusual to back-load an album...

Re: Nina Nastasia

Yes, it's very good. It's gone back to The Blackened Air kind of sound, with some extraordinary instrumentation, lots of strings and things, but not saccharine-sounding at all. For my money it's better than On Leaving and Run To Ruin. Now that's interesting because I think Run to Ruin and On Leavin...

Re: shoegaze

I was reading the other day that it's now over twenty years since 'Nowhere' was released. That's enought to make me want to buy a new pair of slippers. was it really released in early 1990?... four brilliant four song eps and one brilliant eight song album... a legendary year and a half... artwork ...
