Re: Vegan & Vegetarian Food

Hello! In search of varied protein sources to give to Lucas now he's eating solids, I bought a packet of firm tofu. Except I have no idea what to do with it! Do you just cube and fry it? Does it need marinating first? Could I crumble it in a pasta sauce? Does it go in omelets? Also, can I freeze it?...

Re: Pretty stuff for the house

Carys - your bathroom looks absolutely gorgeous! Sylvie - if you decide to go for String shelves, it might be worth being patient and waiting for them to go on sale somewhere. We got ours online from Haus last July when they were 15% off. It might not seem much but as we were ordering some for both ...

Re: Pretty stuff for the house

What do people make of made.com? I've seen a couple of armchairs there that look really nice and are affordable (cheaper than getting one egg chair recovered anyway). I'm not too keen to get anything else from a reproduction website since one of our tulip dining chairs developed a crack in the meta...

That Pastels/Aislers Set gig is two days after the baby's due. It would be a bit foolish to buy a ticket just in case, wouldn't it? Damn.

St Kilda looks amazing (also, baby puffins! acid-spitting birds!), but I found the presenters quite irritating. Too many superlatives.

An installation he conceived for the soon-to-open Tanks space at the Tate Modern will be on show there for a week in September. Some of you might like to plan a London visit around that time...

Re: North Yorkshire/Northumberland coast

The view from the top of the steps at Whitby Castle is amazing. You'll be worn out by the time you climb then, though, ESPECIALLY IN YOUR CONDITION (do you want to sit down?) We also went on an ace boat trip from the harbour there. You should try that. Both of those sound ace, thanks. I have notice...

How was your trip, Pete? We're spending a couple of nights in Whitby next week before heading to a friend's wedding in York, so any recommendations welcome! I've already been told to go to the Magpie cafe for fish and chips...

Re: I want to marry Charlie Brooker

Was it supposed to be some kind of self-critique though? Is Brooker the main character, being angry on demand for the camera/newspaper column/radio? ... and he fell in love with someone who worked on the x factor. he co-wrote this episode with konnie huq. i thought it was very moving (and sad), whe...

Re: General Chat About Films And That

Has anyone else seen The Skin I Live In yet? I really think it's best not to talk about the plot at all around people who haven't seen it but I would highly recommend you go out and see it. It's the kind of plot you keep expecting to fall apart at any moment but just gets more intriguing as it goes...

So, is anyone in the UK going to see them over the next few weeks? I know they're playing in Bristol, Brighton, London and Glasgow, not sure whether they're playing anywhere else. I'm going to both the Tenniscoats and Saya solo gigs at Cafe Oto, can't wait. This is making me swoon: http://www.youtub...

I get the feeling he might only want to play reasonably small and nice venues, so it could have been his decision? He's playing the Union Chapel in London, which isn't small as such, but he could easily have filled much bigger venues. I'm really looking forward to seeing him there.
