French Word For Love by Blood Oranges (or Shark Teeth as they were later unknown before disappearing). I like French Word For Love but I prefer We Killed Them All which was released on this: http://plumptonpresents.bigcartel.com/product/plumpton-rocks-e-p And the original version of This Is Not Abo...

Re: Music for Misfits: The Story of Indie

Much, much better than I imagined or even hoped for. It's as though someone actually did a bit of research. Definitely worth a watch. And a laugh at Alan McGee as he gives both barrels to C86, conveniently forgetting that Side A track 1 was a song from his record label, his beloved Primal Scream, an...

It's not an issue. Very pooch friendly as I took our giddy labrador the first year and it was ace. My mates dog ended up on stage with The School too I think.

Expect lots of "awwws" off people.

Would bringing a dog to this event be a problem? If not, would I have to buy him a ticket?

Re: Is indiepop racist?

Discussions like this are important and necessary, but so is having input from POC. True, true. I'm not sure how to put this (and I really don't want to shoot anyone down), but as someone who is dual-heritage BAME, I'm not sure I'm 100% happy with the 'POC' terminology. Sorry. Until this thread, I'...

Re: Is indiepop racist?

I don't think the post you made shouldn't have been posted in this thread, I presume all Tonieee meant was (you or anyone else) expanding on what you said in your post might be better suited to the 'UK Politics' thread... in a thread titled 'Is indiepop racist?' to change the discussion to a discus...

Re: Is indiepop racist?

Jay, I agree with what you said but this is a thread about racism and how to make indiepop more welcoming to people of colour. It would be unfortunate if by discussing problems that relate to the population as a whole we gave the impression that concerns relating to race do not matter. It's not tha...

]I don't want diminish your fears (and I share them) but I'm sure people from minorities have more to fear especially Muslims given that David Cameron said that British society has been tolerant for too long with the focus on them. I was being some what facetious, although with a grounding of truth...

Re: Is indiepop racist?

Out of interest, how many people in this conversation would say they are a member of an ethnic minority group that faces discrimination? I'm from Barnsley, I live on a council estate, and the country has just voted in a Tory government for the next five years. It might not technically be discrimina...

Re: Is indiepop racist?

I'd find it very difficult to call indiepop racist. I've never heard a lyric in an indiepop song or read an interview from an indiepop performer or heard a comment from anyone at an indiepop gig claiming one race* is superior to another, or derogatory comments about another race (so long as we ignor...

Re: Your skin is paper thin - a Tyrannosaurus Dead thread

Another night of too much alcohol. Another night when only Tyrannosaurus Dead can hit the spot. It can't only be me and Trev who hear the genius in this. For a start, I'm just not that cool.

Say something decent it doesn't have to be true.

And now, a few more shows and they're done. Best of luck to them. The compilation and the LP represent the best new music I've heard in a long time. Thank you.

Re: Great indiepop couplets

The best definition of indiepop I've ever read is somewhere on this forum, I forget who wrote it, but it basically says that indiepop is just the music that I like, so I can include anything. With that in mind, my favourite rhyming couplet ever is in Billy Bragg's She's Got A New Spell :- One minute...

I really enjoyed this. Some may find it a bit sentimental, but can't say I've ever let that bother me. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04sv2gz Repeated on Saturday as well. Re: The Jesus and Marychain

The service charge and the cost of postage are looking like a bit of a bargain now. Not sure how many times I saw The Mary Chain back in the day (as us terminally uncool, over-the-hill types who have watched far too many American movies like to call it) at least a dozen, but last night was the best ...

Re: The Jesus and Marychain

I wasn't even in when the postman brought the tickets. I had to pick them up from the post office myself. For £5.50! Bah humbug.

Looking forward to next week though. JAMC Thursday, Allo Darlin' Friday. If Tyrannosaurus Dead fancy playing my living room on Saturday that really would make my week.
