Re: New Donna Tartt book.

am I the only one who was really disappointed by it ? I just find it not very well written ... I like books to have great wordplay in them and to make you think "gosh that is so wonderfully written and well put, I'd like to quote that bit" ... I just couldn't find anything like that in this book ......

so so difficult ... I need to have a long think about this ...

certainly "the serious game" by Hjalmar Söderberg must be somewhere in that top 5 of my favourites ...

and "the Buddenbrooks" by Thomas Mann

and "maiden voyage" by Denton Welch

Re: The Ballet

that new album is pretty ace, isn't it ? I had to rescue it from this horrible supermarket style shop in Brussels though ... but still, very surprised I could buy it there ... have seen quite a few Fortuna Pop albums there ... is it Sean's way of infiltrating the mainstream ? It is always a lovely s...

Re: Camera Obscura

Have just listened to the new album twice in a row and it is sounding pretty good, "do it again" being the only song I really don't like ...
I guess it is less "poppy", but I really don't mind ...

Re: Camera Obscura

just heard "do it again" on the radio and to be honest I wasn't very keen ... it might grow on me, but I found it a little bit Camera Obscura by numbers which is a disappointment after those last two brilliant albums ...

I'm really really sad ... So wished I could see them live again ... Their London popfest gig in 2010 was just so brilliant and so energetic, the memories of that gig will stay with me forever ... it wasn't the best of times for me personally at the time but that performance gave me such a lust for l...

Re: what book are you reading?

I really really liked "metroland" by Julian Barnes when I read it ages ago ... When I started "the sense of an ending" I thought it was the best book I'd read in years, but I must admit I felt a bit of a letdown by the ending ... Still a really good read ... Have just finished "Stoner" by John Willi...

It can't be over already ... what a blast it was again ... thanks to the organisers for making me very happy again and again for a long weekend in February, no mean feat as I can be quite a miserable old man some times ;-) so many highlights, but for me Cocoanut Groove was the BEST ! and of course the Cats on Fire album is up there with the best (goes without saying)

I also really really like the debut album by Melody's Echo Chamber and "perfume" by Cineplexx
