a fog of ideas wrote:"Many of Walkers brands were formerly branded under the Smiths Crisps name. This comes from the time when Walkers, Smiths and Tudor Crisps were the three main brands of Nabisco's UK snack division with Tudor being marketed mainly in the north of England and Walkers in the south. After the takeover by Pepsico the Tudor name was dropped and the Smiths brand has become secondary to Walkers."

Not my words but the words of Wichael Pedia, noted fact dispenser

The dirty truth of Walkers rise to prominence is there for all the world to see. If you think blue is cheese and onion and green is salt and vinegar then you are on the side of the Southern shandy drinking dandy Henley-On-Thames set... all straw boaters and leisurely punts, cucumber sandwiches and the working man spat and shat on with an unsavoury relish

If however you know in your bones that blue is salt and vinegar and green is cheese and onion, you, my son (you can read this bit in your best Sean Bean voice), are a child of Winterfell, born from the land and the sea, the snow and the rain, your upturned proud noble warrior face covered in soot and streaked with the tears of those who will not be led, the defiant coal miner or wood turner, the steel worker in his dirty vest, the baker covered in flour and sweat and egg... a working man, not a shirking man... these crisp colours were given to you when the First Men came and cut back the trees so we could build our lands, our homesteads, the farm lands we feed from... those colours are in our blood

T'North will raise again and it's crisp packet colours will be the right way aboot and no mistake
Southerner through and through but I'm on the 'right side' (green = C&O, blue= S&V). I blame the Midlands myself for the whole green / blue mix-up.

East Midlands. Don't tar us all with the same brush.

Oi! I'm of East Midland origins and have always known that Walkers is wrong too!

Not sure whether this is true, but, apparantly, the guy who came up with the recipe for Walkers Salt & Vinegar crisps insisted that the packet be coloured green, in tribute to his favourite song, which was Green Onions by Booker T & The MGs, so, the cheese & onion ones were recoloured blue...

That makes even less sense!!! Green Onions should mean cheese and onion is green.

I'm really enjoying the limited edition McCoy's flavours available at the moment: 'Bullseye Bangers' and 'Three Cheese & Worcester Sauce'. The latter in particular - very tangy.

A nice limited edition flavour is a mixed blessing. I love to try new and different flavours of crisps, but when you find one you love and know it's going to be taken away from you at any moment, it can be hard. McCoy's did a beautiful peppered rib-eye steak flavour towards the end of last year, and not a moment passes where I don't think about it.

On another note, I like that Walkers seem to be extending their Extra Crunchy range. I wouldn't say the Walkers Extra Crunchy was particularly exceptional, but it's a good solid crisp. I've always felt that Walkers are good at flavour but let down by a poor quality actual crisp (both with their regular crisps and their Sensations range), so the Extra Crunchy is a good answer to that.

Nu-huh. They taste mostly of nothing at all. That said, I've never in my life eaten a king prawn. If they taste of mostly nothing at all then bravo, Walker's.

Just tried popcrisps: "not fried (unhealthy), not baked (undelicious)". Apparently they're made with some kind of high pressure magic but despite their claims I don't think they're any tastier than baked crisps.

In future I'm going to avoid all crisp products that pretend to be healthy - their flavour is the unhealthyness, take that away and you take away the flavour.

And also any that pretends they're called chips.

What's the hottest crisps ever brought out to market? I just had some weird brand called Kolak Chilli and Lemon flavour and they were pretty fierce. Not that much in terms of flavour just fierce heat. Is there a magic crisp out there that are well fucking hot and with lots of flavour too?
Fuck your tea room.

I have had some hot ones from Asian supermarkets. Cannot remember the brand but one left my tongue burning for a while when I had finished scoffing them. Sometimes is a packet of Salty Dog Jalapeno and Coriander you get a hot one!

They are not crisps but I had Cheddar Jalapeno Cheetos for the first time yesterday. Bang goes my diet.

Snyder's Jalapeno Pretzel Pieces are pretty hot and taste great but they're not even crisps so don't count.
