That is a quite superb idea.
Yeah! Sod your world cup drinking games, let's really push the boat out!

Does anyone actually play world cup drinking games? Apart from that one where you get really drunk and maybe watch the world cup. That's a good game. I always win.

I fly into an incoherent rage any time anyone mentions dr*king g*mes.

Drinking is a serious business.

I just nearly wet myself at that. Why did that happen? It's not that funny, is it?
There is something very funny about it, isn't there. It doesn't even say [citation needed] next to it!

I don't play world cup drinking games - the game's on the telly, I'm just drinking.

I rather like the BBQ Kangaroo flavour they've just brought out (I think) in time for the World Cup...

Just eating the Spain (chicken paella) crisps now. They aren't bad. ¡Olé!

Probably the best of those I've tried to date: Brazil, France, Argentina, Germany, England, Japan, Sarf Efrica, Spain.

Yet to find the BBQ roo ones anywhere sadly.

maybe it's a result of years of unmitigated shite i've poured onto my tongue over the years but the dutch edam one's appeared to taste only of "potato".

are they all based on particular dishes associated with the various countries in the competition. christ i bet they're glad azerbijan or someone didn't qualify. racist etc.

actually going on wikipedia the associated dishes of yarpag dolmi and and plov sound alright actually. unlikely to see plov flavoured crisps anytime soon they i expect. in fact the canadian national dishes sound like the rummest of the lot. grim.

You may have noticed that Edam itself doesn't actually taste of anything. Thus the Dutch Edam Flavoured crisps are in fact the most authentically flavoured of all these World Cup Crisp varieties. You have a discerning palate young Jamie.

PS. Poutine flavoured crisps would presumably just taste like crisps with gravy - should be easy enough to do. It's hard to believe that the national dish of a nation which is culturally French (the Quebecoise) would effectively be chips and gravy with lumps of cottage cheese. It looks vile, though a Canadian I know claims it's not as bad as it looks ... and a that's a good thing I guess.

Italian Spaghetti Bolognese. Just say no.

They taste worse than giving away a 94th minute penalty to Francesco fucking Totti.

I didn't realise there was a crisp thread. I'd have been posting regular crisp journals, had I.

CRISPS!

Today, I tried sweet chili Hula Hoops for the first time. They were nice enough, but there was no wow factor.

I've had those. A really poor 2 out of 10 in my book. Hardly any flavour.

I'm still trying to find the holy grail which was Brannigans ham & pickle flavour. They used to be in brown paper-effect bags too, but I've not seen a bag for about a decade now.

You can order them online, and I think they're still around in the odd pub and shop. But I'm not sure for how much longer. KP Snacks is set to be sold off and I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped some of the less prominent brands.

Yup. Saw them on the Selfridges website (h'yeah, right...) and then lo! there was a hopper full of them in Asda. Only a quid for a massive bag. Woo! They're lovely.

I disagree. But I prefer the bacon and ketchup ones they did about a decade ago. They were lush. It was at the same time they did cheese toastie flavour, which were also fantastic.

I like the flavour, but it's a poor quality crisp, in my opinion.
