I think it means tracksuit and tie. That's what I'm wearing anyway. DON'T COPY ME.

Ah, that's great - what an honour!

I've been writing these longform pieces based on an ebook I wrote a while ago that nobody read, and obviously nobody's taking these articles for publishing or passing them around so I may as well dump them here. Five thousand words on Jimmy Hill's broadcasting career, and thirty years to the day after it ended the football on TV blackout of 1985-86

Enjoyed those Simon, thanks for sharing. I can't believe it was only one generation ago that the people running football were stupid enough to think that having the game on TV would mean fewer people at grounds, instead of realising it would stimulate interest in the game and actually boost attendances. Mind you, they're still stupid now, just in a different way.

Does he do this every week hoping eventually a band will notice?

Apparently! Most unpredictable success in the history of recent football. And still, they nailed it. I bow to all of them, starting from Mr Ranieri.

When he falters, "We've been written off by many people, you know..." I'm floored.

Is it Sunday yet?

Of course, the real fairytale ending to this season was the ignominous end to John Terry's career. Real punch the air stuff.

Grimsby crowd not in? Still immersed in revels and debauchery?

All these exiled Grimbarians among my indiepop acquaintances, and an Owl for a girlfriend too. What heady days are these.

From the early stages of that second leg in the semi-final against Braintree, I just sort of knew we'd do it this time. Last year, never really felt it. This time, totally different. I just sort of knew.

And what a way to seal it. I dunno where five minutes of stoppage time came from - but without that, we wouldn't have had this.

Six years of non-League football all seemed worth it for Craig Disley's massive happy face at the end.

Absolute scenes, as we apparently say these days.

Sorry, you'll just have to indulge me while I work through the enormity of this.

There were Town fans there on Sunday who are old enough to drink legally, but who weren't even alive the last time we were promoted.

Also we've made friends with Vancouver Whitecaps fans on the internet and now IRL and our house now has a Vancouver Whitecaps fridge magnet.

Aw man!

I've hardly thought about anything else since Sunday. IT'S AMAZING. Ooh, and I found the best bit of footage ever (I have gone through roughly a million hours of Youtube videos in the last three days). From about 1:20 in, watch the crowd still celebrating Bogle's first goal and then the totally awesome 14,000-strong chorus of "YEH... GO ON...!" as he's about to score his second:

Goosebumps. Tears. Non-stop smiling.

I don't understand. Are you both Grimsby fans?

Bloody FA Trophy. I hope we never have to compete in it again and it really annoys me that, while we had to, we didn't win it.

GTFC friendly at home to Oldham! Might have been a nice mini Anorak meet-up with our Latics contingent, were it not on the Saturday of Indietracks.
