Also - I'm definitely going to Preston Friday if anyone would like a lift. I'm staying in a Premier Inn. I'm planning to drive there in the afternoon so I can have a detour to good old fun packed Blackpool and eat chips on the windy sea front. Coming back Saturday lunchtime-ish.
Ah... I wouldn't have minded, cos I didn't get to see The Orchids in Glasgow at the weekend, but I can't really stay over. Nice of you to offer though - thanks!

I didn't know about it! I would really like to go - I shouldn't do cost I'm really knackered because of a combination of:

1. two days of heavy drinking in that London
2. clocks going forward meaning the unspeakable hour I have to get up for work becomes even more unspeakable
3. child deciding that last night would be a good night to have a tantrum at bed time resulting in what should have been an early night was quite a late one

but I probably will!

What time are you thinking of heading down?

Blimey, that sounds awful. Are you sure? Oh, alright then. First turn's on at half 8. Taxi it over?

Dan, I'll give you that tenner I owe you if you make it!

Thanks, but I'm still recovering from Saturday night/getting my head kicked in by hay fever a little bit, so I'll still have to give it a miss I'm afraid.

Tiredness has got the better of me and I'm not going to make it out tonight - I really, really want to go but I'm incapable :-(.

Does anybody fancy going to see Trudy And The Romance and Seamonsters at Bungalows And Bears on Thursday?

I didn't know. Well, that just leaves Desperate Journalist or John Shuttleworth then.

Require fun this coming Thursday? I'm playing a set at a café in Crosspool (so don't come to that, etc etc).

Ian Turley's new band's playing their first gig tonight. Me and Jo are going to go down - does anybody want to join us?

Ah, how was it? I'd have gone if I'd been in town.

It was good. The venue's not so great and the place was so noisy I couldn't hear the folky bloke who was second at all but I really enjoyed both Ian's band and the headliners (the names of both I've forgotten).

I'm playing some records at Tonearm Vinyl on Saturday afternoon and there's some bands on at the Walkley Beer Co too if anybody fancies coming along.

Aargh that's tonight isn't it....I'd thought about it, then got irked by having to download some app or other to get tickets. Or something.

Oh. I just assumed it was free to get in like every other gig I've been to at Bungalows. Having to download an app to go to a gig does sound excessively irksome.

Edit: I've just checked Facebook again and it is free but you have to download an app to get entry - sounds dodgy...

Plus even if you get a 'free' ticket by downloading this dodgy sounding app it does not guarantee you entry to the gig! I hope this isn't going to become the future of gig going!!!

I wanted to see a couple of those bands but I've got a three-way clash tonight anyway. There's also a talk at Bishops House about Orkney archaeology and a book launch at the University of Lincoln. Pah!

I'm going down without the app anyway - I've spoken to Mabbs and he's doing the same. I can't see them turning people away. I've never known Bungalows to have tickets to get in before.

I wonder if my next door neighbour's involved with that - he's an Orkney archaeologist (Orkneyologist?).
