I noted this very thing earlier today. Are you going through for the gig? I might accompany you if you are.

Got tickets to see Jens Lekman as well, which I am REALLY FUCKING EXCITED about.

Haha! WE'LL SEE! Theoretically I won't have to work quite as much to cover mine AND my brother's shares of the rent, but I'm not very good at turning down work when it's offered or when someone needs it done. Hopefully once I get settled into a routine I'll be better at organising my time and will have a bit more money for STUFF.

Cool.
The other good gig coming up is Teen Canteen (pretty much formerly Futuristic Retro Champions) who will be joined on stage by Eugene Kelly, Duglas T and Roy Moller and supported by Stevie Jackson. That's 27th October at SWG3 (I think).

The Jens Lekman gig has been moved to the Arches.

I find the Arches to be a bit of an oddity. I really like the concept and the look of the venue - but just haven't enjoyed many gigs the I've been to there.

Hopefully this will be an exception.

Of course it's still definitely ACE that he's playing up here (which he didn't do, last time he toured)

Yeah, the Arches is a funny one. I've been to a few gigs I really loved there but I find it a bit hit and miss. I do think it will be better as a venue for Jens Lekman though. I actually wish it was going to be in a seated venue. I think that's because I see it as more of a seated type gig, but it might just be that I'm getting OLD.

Just discovered that this is the reason the Jens Lekman gig has been moved...
We are disappointed to announce that The Hug and Pint will not be launching at 185 Gt Western Rd. We made an agreement with the property owner on 13th July to lease the venue for 5 years from September. We finalized the details of this agreement at the end of August. Unfortunately, the landlord has decided to go back on our agreement in order to sell the venue to a brewery company.

Throughout this process we have received a phenomenal amount of support from the people of Glasgow and our community of musicians, promoters, agents, engineers, gig-goers and friends. For this we thank you dearly.
We will continue to promote concerts independently whilst we find a new location. You can find details of our shows and buy tickets at http://www.thehugandpint.co.uk/
I think it'll be a real shame if we lose this venue for gigs. I know that not every aspect of it was popular with folks, but I had some great great nights down there.

Hm. Is that the old Captain's Rest then? I have mixed feelings about that. I've made me feelings fairly clear about PCL in the past, but it is a shame to lose a venue that was one of the only ones of the right sort of size for indiepop gigs.

Yes. PCL had moved out of there anyway so I had been hoping we would now just be getting the benefits of the venue without their baggage. Looking doubtful now though.

Wait, I got my dates mixed up. Same weekend. Dur. Wonder if I can make it back to Glasgow for that gig, actually. And I can't miss seeing the Aislers Set with marianthipops.

It looks as if the Glasgow gig is the only other UK gig on the Aislers Set mini tour apart from the Chickfactor one.

Well done to the folk at Mono for securing this one. I suspect that Mr McRobbie might have had a hand in this one ;)

It's a great option for those who can't get tickets for Chickfactor, of course - maybe some folk will go to both?

I know there's a bit to go yet but I'm stupidly excited about this, Glasgows. I get to see so many of my favourite people *and* my favourite band *and* Glasgow. What a win.

Mono is also one of my favourite venues in Glasgow - I am glad that the gig will be there.

It is one of the few venues with both a very nice bar/ cafe and a fabulous record shop, that often stays open later when bands are on.

Though not the perfect venue to put on a free acoustic gig when you're otherwise open to the normal Friday night drinking crowd. As we found out at Shelley Long and Darren Hanlon last week.
Not that it was the fault of anyone in particular and they did make the most of it.
