California! I'm going to be in San Diego for a few weeks in January.

Where should I go? What should I do?

Are there any good all-ages venues? (I'm 27 but I know all-ages venues are where the good shows happen.)

Any pop clubs or local record labels I should keep an eye on?

San Diego is a So Cal beach town and our most famous musical export is Blink 182 and our most famous celebrity beside Tony Hawk is... umm... I really don't know. Regardless, it's about as un-pop as it gets. We've got plenty of good looking people, but they're rarely indie pop good looking, if that makes sense.

I doubt there's a pop scene because I haven't seen one and I've been desperately looking for one. I'm not complaining too much, though, because on the flip side, all the bands really pull for each other and there's not much negativity around the scene, people are generally supportive of other bands whether it's a Kiss soundalike or a Cardigans wannabe. There are a few bands out here that are definitely indie poppy, and the venues that might book decent bands are Tin Can, Eleven, Tower Bar, Ruby Room, Ken Club, etc., but they're not genre specific.

The one all-ages venue I know is the Che Cafe, I've been there once and my band's played there another time and it was a good time.

I did a little research and talked to my friend that I'm staying with.

It sounds like Soda Bar is the best for shows.

TV Girl and Christmas Island are decent locals, though I'm not a huge fan of either.

We're going to be road tripping to LA and some other places so we'll see.
