Drumming

Post by paukl » Fri Apr 26, 2013 1:58 pm

I'm having a go at being a drummer next week. I've never really done it before so tweeted that I wanted to start a band I could drum in and someone actually replied so now I have to do it.

So, drumming. I'm gonna buy some sticks and I can rent breakables from the practice place. I kind of know how to set up a kit. I guess I'm looking for some tips for a beginner, if anyone has any!

Oooh, exciting!

I've just started drumming too, it's great fun, I love it. I found a local person who does lessons and they have been brilliant. I've got no idea how you'd go about learning without someone to teach you, but maybe youtube can help? I'm having to practice for at least 30 minutes a day to make progress, so having somewhere you can practice regularly is great. My drum tuition is £12 for half an hour a week, so it's not that expensive.

Good luck with it!

Got our first gig next week. It's supporting the band I play guitar in so gonna be a busy one!

It's been fun learning something new but as the gig gets closer the excitement is swiftly turning to argh.

Also my hand hurts. I'm hoping this is normal.

It's with a guy who does solo stuff under the name Cast & Crew.

They're really good songs, bombastic and that, just hoping I don't ruin them!
