Percy Topliss would be appalled by all this smutting up of Mottage.

We need a separate Moss Cottage thread (though it seems we'd all likely just be talking about going to bed early).

You guys are fucking disgusting.

Moss Cottage was PRETTY HAPPENING between the hours of 10pm and midnight, I'll have you know. We went back after the bands every night because the kids were bored (and, crucially, out of phone battery) by then. The guy was pretty accommodating with keeping the bar open but I guess with only a few people there it probably wasn't worth him staying open much later! I did like having a bar to go back to; I think that is what the Premier Inn lacks.

Oh but there *was* a bar at Ripley Premier Inn this year: me! I had the massivest bottle of vodka and no-one to drink it with.

Next year I am taking the party law into my own hands. There shall be takeaway pizza.

Its bloody expensive for 2013. £235 for 3 nights! I'm sure I got it for about half that price last year.

it's an extra £95 compared to what we paid this year (which we booked in august 2011), I think all premier inn prices went up in november/december last year, it's not just ripley putting theirs up for indietracks

I thought they may have got wind of the date and done it deliberately. Mansfield is £121 for those dates, so may opt for that. We drive in anyway, so a 20 minute drive instead 5 wont make that much difference.

Maybe there are festivals on other weekends in July too? Castle Donington etc.

I'd booked ours in anticipation a few weeks back and indeed, it was £234 - quite a bit more than this year's had cost booking a year ahead.

Thing is, I'm a reglier now.

Yeah, I went for it at £234 as well. The fact that you don't pay up front and you can always cancel without charge if you find something better makes it not so bad.

yeh, I can save up the £234 or my half of it between now and then... and it's a lovely breakfast and the shower's very good and I like having a telly, this year I got to watch 'wayne's world' one night and 'running man' the next, the year before I got to fall asleep to 'under siege'

you can't argue with that

We've booked in for a family room, which I think ended up being the same price as the normal room. Bargain! Mottage was great last year but for some reason the walk back seemed infinitely long compared to the Premier Inn walk (possibly because we never knew about the shortcut til the last night, when we got a lift anyway). I am excited to make my return to the Premier Inn for 2013. I'm also rather excited about the new-look breakfast.

And it's not even 20 minutes. According to Google maps it's 6.7 miles / 13 minutes, most of it in dual-lane A38 road as well.

Edit: Three cat avatars in a row. Woohoo!!!

Don't know if thats near the Mansfield Travelodge, but you can get that for £57 for the 3 nights at the moment - http://www.travelodge.co.uk/hotels/292/ ... ?from=list
and that snare drum, that drum roll
means we've got a winner

Interesting, even though that is further away.

Mansfield Premier Inn is very close and very conveniently located right next to M1.

A taxi driver we had told us that his land backs onto the site and there is a shortcut we can use! Not sure if I can remember where to go for next year...
