A blog called The Album Wall is currently collecting covers for a 69 Love Songs cover project.

I did "Nothing Matters When We're Dancing", you can hear it (and others, including Jack Hayter and Papernut Cambridge) here: https://soundcloud.com/thealbumwall/not ... -when-were

There's plenty of good ones left, if anyone should be interested. Nobody has claimed Papa Was A Rodeo yet, despite (or perhaps because of) it being one of the greatest songs ever written.

Act Two - This Is Just As Hard For Me As It Is For You - The story of a man named Will Ream who is trying to figure out what is best for his children, and having some regrets about how things worked out. To tell this story we collaborated with songwriter Stephin Merritt. Stephin scored the story and wrote original songs with lyrics based on quotes from the interviews with Will Ream. You can stream and download them here
thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/541/regrets-ive-had-a-few

the episode is worth a listen (not that the songs don't work in a stand-alone way).

also, nice career summary here.

based on the note on the brooklyn academy of music website for the december shows
Co-commissioned by BAM, the Center for the Art of Performance at UCLA, The Barbican Centre, Edinburgh International Festival, and the Melbourne Festival.
it seems likely there will be a couple of uk performances of the two-night '50 song memoir' show august 2017-ish.
Unlike Stephin’s previous work, the lyrics on 50 Song Memoir are nonfiction, a mix of autobiography and documentary. There is one song per year for the fifty years since 1965. Musically the sound ranges as widely and adventurously as possible, within the context of lyrics-driven music.

In concert the music will be played and sung by seven performers in a stage set featuring fifty years of artifacts both musical (vintage computers, reel-to-reel tape decks, newly invented instruments), and decorative (tiki bar, shag carpet, vintage magazines for the perusal of idle musicians). The seven performers each play seven instruments, traditional (cello, charango, clavichord) or invented in the last 50 years (Slinky guitar, Swarmatron, synthesizer).

50 song memoir tour

edinburgh, dublin, bristol, liverpool, brighton, london each get the whole thing across two nights in august/september.

it's expensive but (for the barbican at least) there's a discount when buying tickets for both shows.

hope we get the full stage set; looks great.

Have front row tickets for the second day in Edinburgh which I realise may be a little incomplete, but it would be tough to get there from work on the Friday for the first part. Still to hear the album mind you! Need to rectify that before then.
