Mine came today, too! I guess the post came late because it wasn't in the box when I got home, and then Stasia came in from the porch and handed me my weepop package!

I love it. A bit different from the original versions, but quite nice - I always love East Kilbride (all summer long)!

beautiful packaging - I love just looking at it while I listen to the album.

what a swell way to end the day.

yow!
being nice IS a political act!

I still have mixed feelings about the "new" album. I'm really not want to cling to a lofi aesthetique - I like a bit of polish and production - but there's definitely something been lost with some of the new recordings/arrangements here. I'm afraid I especially really don't like the new Friday Afternoons with a backing that sucks all the charm from what is a truly wonderful song. I think if I'd never heard the song before then I might like it but I find it a little bizarre considering they never even played it like that live.
There's some great stuff on there of course - Wham Bars are Great is an improvement and East Kilbride sounds great and suddenly has much more of an impact on me.
If more people are hearing these songs then I suppose that can only be a good thing really.

I really like it but I miss Katie's vocals. Does anyone know if she'll be singing on future recordings? Agree with everyone about the lovely packaging.

I'm sure she will be. The original album was recorded before Katie was in the band and very muc references David's life at the time so I guess the decision was made to make it a more personal record.

Does anyone know if I am I right in thinking that The Just Joans have never played in Birmingham? That's fucking criminal.

It could be that they played ages ago when I moved away, but that might even be double-criminal.
I am struck speechless by the nape of your neck.

Bloody hell, it took me ages to find this thread. What are we doing?

Anyway, just wanted to post about this brilliant interview that our Shaun did with the Just Joans on his blog: http://www.brilldream.blogspot.co.uk/20 ... k-for.html
I love a sing-along on a train, as I'm sure anyone who has ever caught the 23:41 train out of Glasgow Central, on a Saturday night can testify!

Got the new EP in the post this morning. So great to have them back! Feels like a lifetime since I had some new JJs songs to listen to. I take it the last track is supposed to cut out at the end like that, because of the title?

It's a million times better than that boring Magnetic Fields album too obv. :D

Right, I'm selling 90% of my CDs. I never play them. They collect dust.

I've got 'Last Tango In Motherwell' by The Just Joans. I'm searching internet sites to find a value..... and weirdly I can't find one for sale or ever having been sold ever. Anyone know if this is the rarest indiepop CD ever?
not really here

wouldn't worry about it. gone to a good home, and in the ebay auction only two people were bidding, and one of them now owns it.

i'd like to see your list of stuff for sale.

2 new* Just Joans tracks are on the 3 -way new split EP 'Just Lovely' by The Just Joans/GUMS! and The Hector Collectors, which can be downloaded for anything you like (Including nothing) from here:

https://gums.bandcamp.com

* Lead track 'I Love You, Who Do You Love' is brand new, 2nd Joans track ' Back To High School' is the original recording of the closing track from the debut 'Last Tango In Motherwell', a song which was left off the 2012 remake album, 'Buckfast Bottles in the rain' in better fidelity than ever before.
