wiaiwya FREE monthly singles club

Post by wiaiwya » Sat May 02, 2009 10:47

all pretty exciting this, and a little bit late, but that's how things go...

as of today there's a free wiaiwya monthly singles download club... the plan is for the best bands around to have a single available for a limited number of downlaods, along with sleeve, and sometimes other bits and pieces (maybe posters, lyric sheets, photos etc)... there will also be a limited quantity of cd versions available (not for free i'm afraid) at shows, and by mail order...

hmm... some pretty cool stuff lined up for the rest of the year too, but more of that nearer the time...

to start the ball rolling we have

april 2009 - wiaiwya050 - eagleowl - for the thoughts you never had
may 2009 - wiaiwya051 - fox - fruit

downlaods are available NOW from http://www.wiaiwya.com

help yourself, and be sure to let me or the bands know what you think...

speak soon

wiaiwya FREE monthly singles club - SOURPATCH and MOR PARANO

Post by wiaiwya » Fri Jul 24, 2009 11:14

hi

thought you might like to know about the july and august FREE download only singles from wiaiwya:

first up, for july, is the mighty SOURPATCH (wiaiwya053) a 4 tracks single in advance of their debut long player from happy happy birthday to me... a MUST for fans of heavenly, tiger trap and velocity girl

and then, for august, are the MOR PARANOIDS (wiaiwya054), three tracks of dangerously infectious indie-garage-rock-fall-pop, like an indie swine flu you'll never be immune to...

all avalaible direct from www.wiaiwya.com... pop by, and tell your chums...

hope you like them

hi

just uploaded the september download release, by the mighty LAST DINOSAUR...

to welcome in an early autumn we are over the moon to welcome back Jamie from the mighty SINCE I WAS A LITTLE GIRL, and his new combo, the LAST DINOSAUR... HOME is an unhurried epic, like a naive and suburban sigur ros, with whispered vocals, and gently plucked guitars, building up to a swirling climax... a bit cocteau twins, a bit radiohead, a lot BRILLIANT...

"This house will always be home to me, regardless of where i lay my feet.. it's home.. it's home"

coupled with their basement pop tribute to Michael Jackson, bring on the rain, the soundtrack is waiting...

the FREE two track single, with sleeve, and video is available from here:

www.wiaiwya.com

let me know what you think

speak soon

oh, and the eagleowl single hasn't been available for a while (it reached the maximum number of downloads), but now, with the kind permission of the band, it's back up and ready for you to download...

so, the story so far is

wiaiwya050 - eagleowl - for the thoughts you never had ep
wiaiwya051 - fox - fruit ep
wiaiwya052 - various artists - four track bruce springsteen tribute ep
wiaiwya053 - sourpatch - fun ep
wiaiwya054 - the mor paranoids - things that make you go paranoid
wiaiwya055 - the last dinosaur - home ep

get them while you still can

hi

a little early for the free wiaiwya October download single, but it IS springsteen's 60th Birthday, and i know how much you love him... so here we are, once again paying tribute to the great man...

first up is TOWNBIKE with Radio Nowhere - power POP with more Power... and more POP for that matter... townbike could knock an s club party into a cocked hat

followed by THATFUCKINGTANK and Bruce Stonehenge - hard riffing DIY rockage from their latest longplayer Tankology (Gringo)

third is THE BLACK LODGE'S State Trooper - a glam rock suicide take on the Nebraska classic

and ringing last orders is PAUL GUIDED MISSILE vs PAULL PLANET MAGNETIC - born sepremacy is a unique homage to both Born to Run and Born in the USA... SUPREME indeed

all available to download for free from www.wiaiwya.com...

it's your's to download for nothing from www.wiaiwya.com, along with releases from eagleowl, fox, sourpatch, the mor paranoids, the last dinosaur, and two 4 track tributes to Bruce Springsteen

hope all's good

to celebrate the physical release in SHOPS of the fantastic second single from HELP STAMP OUT LONELINESS, the february release from the FREE wiaiwya download singles club is the PACIFIC TRASH VORTEX remix ep... it's available from http://www.wiaiwya.com... feel free to tell all your friends, feature on your blogs, you know... all that stuff...

the first is a dub take by wiaiwya's own DJ DOWNFALL, who has been keeping himself busy albumming a new album, mixing mixes for the PAINS OF BEING PURE AT HEART, the PIPETTES and 'ALLO, DARLIN', and of course guitarring for TENDER TRAP... nice...
http://www.myspace.com/johndownfall

the second mix comes from the enigmatic TALL WHITE GUY, a remix producer based in Manchester, UK. He "loves all music including Finnish Heavy Metal. Recently recovered from a near suicidal tendency towards Post-Punk, Death Disco and EBM, now getting major kicks from Twee Pop, Nuggets Psychedelia and Electro Disco. Looking for friendship, remixing and maybe more."

They've been going since about 2005, but sightings are quite rare. I'm not sure if they've even made it into double figures for shows in that time... it's only just barely, if they have.

They're great though, aye. Mark's one of the best sognwriters i know. He also used to be in Grampus Eight, who were one of my favourite bands from Liverpool ever. Meow Meow and Down & Outs are also on that list.

Anna used to play in Tokyo Adventures, who had a couple of albums out through Boss Tuneage and Keith Records, fact fans.

I reckon we are the laziest band on the planet!
Album should be done soon but the pace is glacial.

Big thanks to wiaiwya for all the help tho. Dead kind.
