We hope you will check out our new releases if you can.
As you probably know, everything is, (still only), available from
http://www.indiepages.com/boyracer/mailorder.html

Onwards and upwards. We are proud to announce…

HULABOY “Scottish Gentlemen Of Speed” / TUNABUNNY split LP + CD – 555LP92
Hulaboy is the collaborative effort of Stewart Anderson (Boyracer etc) and Eric Stoess (Hula Hoop etc), which musically over the past decade and a half has borne great fruits from the delightful combination of US and UK pop sensibilties, (with a healthy dose of pilfering from Flying Nun and Postcard records back catalogue). “Scottish Gentlemen..” ups the pop ante one more time from last years adored “Olympic Krush on The Hulaboy” LP, and features their strongest most delicious material to date. Highlights are many, but include the 8 minute LP opener “The English Mindset” where Stewart tells the tale of his introduction to the working week, and the difficulties faced by a 16 year old fishmonger growing up in a small town in Northern England.
6 tracks, (with additional secret vinyl only material!).
555 edition of 100 copies in a no-expenses-spared beautiful letterpressed sleeve.
LP also contains CDr version of the songs, (so you non-turntablists, you can hang the LP on the wall and play the CD- no excuses now!).
Free download track at www.boyracer.bandcamp.com
Co-release with HHBTM, who also have 100 copies, (but without the letterpressed sleeve) .
TUNABUNNY are an all girl band from Athens GA who declined to offer any other info on themselves. Their contribution to the Hulaboy flip is the 18 minute spacerock epic “Outer Space Is The Centre Of The Earth”. More at myspace.com/tunabunny

HULA HOOP “Ghost Of Last Summer” LP – 555LP91
(INCLUDES DOWNLOAD CODE FOR FULL LP)
Hula Hoop where spawned from the same Ohio River water as Rodan, Palace Bros, Evergreen, King Kong and other Louisville contemporaries, but with a decidedly less obvious rock-ist stance due to their combined influences, (e.g. the LP contains the standout track “Graeme Downes”, their own ode to the Verlaines lead singer). After dozens of releases and 2 well received Peel sessions, bassist Rachel Grimes left to pursue the musical collective "Rachel's" full time. This album contains songs written & recorded after her departure with the powerhouse pop trio of Eric Stoess, (also Hulaboy), Chuck Geisler and Stephen “Monkey Boy” Jones. While not fueled by Rachel’s homemade molasses cookies, we think it's a stellar collection of tasty Americana pop morsels mined from the musical coal of Echo & the Bunnymen, New Zealand pop/rock, Television, & The Fall.
Beautiful-can’t-possibly-break-even-letter-pressed cover by Hound Dog Press. Edition of 150 copies with download code.
Co-release with 75orless records.
Free download track at www.boyracer.bandcamp.com

Also, new Kitchen Sounds podcast at http://www.slumberlandrecords.com/extras/podcast/27
Thanks again!

new Boyracer EP (sort of)...

Post by stewart boyracer » Mon Nov 02, 2009 22:50

Continuing with our exclusive uploads the 1st of every month, we have a new 5 track EP posted at http://boyracer.bandcamp.com/album/naked-ep
It's a re-recording, (and vastly superior versions), of our 2nd 7inch single.
Please note also, we will be removing some of the free stuff shortly to make way for new things (the Peel Session and Racer Deluxe are about to go,- so if you still want to download them, please do so soon). There's lots more on there if you poke around a but too.
May we also take the opportunity to remind you of our latest 2 LPs, Hula Hoop and Hulaboy/Tunabunny. Which are both very limited and and most worthy of your attention.
Details at:-
http://www.indiepages.com/boyracer/mailorder.html
Many thanks!

New Boyracer, The How, Cannanes, Summer Cats, Cheap Red...

Post by stewart boyracer » Tue Apr 06, 2010 15:06

new 7inch releases!

55550 GOLDEN AGE - compilation 7inch - with stunning EXCLUSIVE tracks from THE CANNANES, SUMMER CATS, CHEAP RED, SOFT PAWS, TRICIA YATES FANCLUB. All new, all killer, no filler! 3 way label split with 555, Knock-Yr-Socks-Off (Australia) and Jellyfant (Germany). We have 100 copies. Artwork by David Nichols. (Please support your local-ist label)

55551 THE HOW / BOYRACER split 7inch. Brand new recordings from both bands. These are the last Racer recordings (see below). A co-release with Slumberland records (We have 75 copies).

FREE 3inch CD if you order both for the first 40 or so/Racer faithful. We also have a few TShirts left over from the Slumberland 20th shows. Some sizes we only have one shirt left, so strictly first come first serve (We will remove links as they become unavailable). The Boyracer shirts are the "Girls At Our Best" sleeve ripoff, orange on white, and the girls Tshirts are sleeveless and coloured shirts with the "Go Feet/Beat" dancing girtl logo as seen on the Boyracer/Beatnik Filmstars split 7inch. The How shirts are the classy Who rip off logo, dark blue on white.

EVERYTHING AVAILABLE at http://indiepages.com/boyracer/mailorder.html

THANKYOU to everyone who came out to see us at the Slumberland shows. It was a wonderful way to stop, surrounded by so many good friends. And yes, this really is it for us folks. We recently found out our daughter Tallulah is autistic. And given there is presently an autism exclusion in the wonderful US healthcare insurance system, we haven't quite figured out how we are going to pay for the neccessary therapy. With that in mind it is probable these will also be the last releases on 555. (I really can't justify making records for vanity purposes when nothing we have released in 5 years has broken even, and Tallulah's therapy is 3 times what we presently earn).

Heres a snippet of what you may have missed at the SLR shows:-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nGRDX-b ... re=related

Thankyou all for your friendship over the years. If we get around to doing music again maybe we will surprise the 40 or 50 faithful with a CDr or download link or something, (don't worry, we know who you are!).

Oh- lastly - April is Autism Awareness month, we thought we would share this song with you. Any monies from the download of this song will go to the Austism Society Of America.

I hope you'll find a way to make this all better soon. Mainly for you and your daughter of course, but also selfishly because the world needs a 555, no matter how few people were buying your records. Thanks Stewart, and best wishes for all.

got mine today -- i agree, it's an excellent compilation. a nice companion piece to the truth against the world 7". often these things have a duff track but i can't find one on this. just trying to work out what the hell song the chorus of the summer cats one reminds me of.

the boyracer/ the how split & the 3" cd-r are also great. currently hot-washing my t-shirt to see if i can shrink it from a large-ish medium (which is often the point one finds the band never bothered to heat-set after screenprinting, but i have faith in stew's/jen's thoroughness).

555 news

Post by stewart boyracer » Fri Jun 25, 2010 16:57

Firstly, thanks for everyones kind words of support regarding our daughter Tallulah. She continues to respond to therapy well, and we raised a whopping $704 from our bandcamp song which we donated to the Northern Arizona Autism Society (which we are part of). Thanks to everyone who donated!
Our good friend, the very wonderful, John Stanley (Tender Trap, a.k.a DJ Downfall) is running the New York Marathon for Autistica and Autism Society Of America. Please support him if you can at
http://www.justgiving.com/johnisrunningthenycmarathon (UK)
http://www.firstgiving.com/johnisrunningthenycmarathon (US)

Some music news! We have set up a bandcamp site for the 555 singles. They are cheap, and we will be sporadically adding more of the sold out material as we stumble accross master tapes (not according to any sort of original release sequence). Requests welcome! There are 3 long out of print belters up at http://555recs.bandcamp.com/

LOGNHALSMOTTAGNINGEN - Crazy Swedish hardcore punk band with my good friend Martin (ex-Faintest Ideas) have a new 7inch out and is receiving great reviews from some serious punk circles (see below). Our 1st 7inch is already selling for $30 (I'm not kidding)- so buy a bunch and flood ebay with this one in a few months time. Available from us at http://www.indiepages.com/boyracer/mailorder.html or from http://localcross.com (click on the crossword 7inch sleeve for sound bites- Martin is so punk he declined from putting the band name on the record sleeve)

GOLD BEARS is the new band from Jeremey, formerly Plastic Mastery. Stewart plays drums, guitar and sings on the (best) track "Jezzer" on their debut 7inch. http://magicmarkerrecords.com/ 7inch on white vinyl with download.

CHEAP RED and BIRDS OF CALIFORNIA have a split LP coming out in the Fall on Pork Records of Ohio. Ltd 250, we may have copies. More details soon. B.O.C. have their debut LP/CD released on Jigsaw records sometime soon (Stew plays drums in B.O.C.). Vinyl is lathe cut and limited to 50 copies I think, no-one has really told me much about it. Bug Chris Mac about it, and check out his awesome mailorder at http://jigsaw-records.com/

ALSO free download of Birds Of California EP
http://februaryrecords.com/2010/04/17/n ... alifornia/

Thanks again for your support.

Terminal Boredom review:
Lognhalsmottagningen "Fina Nyanser i Nya Finanser" 7"
I'm not 100% positive that this band name isn't some kind of joke pointed at lengthy and unpronouncable foreign band names. But they're actually from Sweden...or maybe not...who knows, maybe the joke's on them. Maybe there's no joke. Fuck it. Euro retro-punk, Attentat/Missbrukarna-esque perhaps, Swedish jabbering vox (thanks for the lyric sheet!), good'n'sloppy and high on treble, they certainly nail the vintage sound. Wait a minute...the fact-checking department just came in and traced one (or perhaps both) of these guys as being in Boyracer. Gasp! And there's a 40 song LP in the works I'm being told. Whether this is a gag and/or just some guys loving Swedish punk, it sounds right. There are worse sins to commit out there. Cover is a crossword puzzle I'm sure none of us has the gall to attempt. Well executed and at least they're making you do some work, you lazy sod you.(RK)

Maximum Rock And Roll review:
"Can something be melodic and shit-fi? I believe this is a cross-the-oceans project featuring a Swede who lives in Sweden (duh!), and a Brit with an indie pop history who lives in Texas - though I could be wrong. At any rate, if you are craving some Bloodstains Across Sweden and your supplier had dried up, LOGNHALSMOTTAGNINGEN has got what you need. Vocals that contain snottier delivery than a bus packed with pus-filled children, guitar riffs that are eloquently trashy with some suitably wobbly guitar "leads," drums that sound like they're being played five rooms over by a drunken, sullen Nordic pogo-punk... This record adds to the legacy of their debut 7" from 2008, which disappeared faster than a donut at a police station. Don't be a fool! If you are charmed by stupid yet ingeniously constructed punk that sounds like it was a 7" recorded in 1981 that is now worth $500, grab this!"
