The Hobbes Fanclub
These lot are so far up my street they're living in my spare room.
There's a couple of new songs on their myspace page from their new single on Duffelcoat, anyway.

I like them too. First picked up on them when Murray mentioned them last year. Glad to know they got a record/cd/whatever coming out.
not really here

Re: The Hobbes Fanclub
Very excited about these. I wonder if they'll ever be able to play some gigs.
Re: The Hobbes Fanclub
They're bloody great, aren't they? (Do I need to use a question mark if it's a hypothetical question?)Nice to hear new songs too.
I think the last band I use to rave about (read; "bore people by incessantly going on about") as much was Hot Lava. I wonder what happened to them? Hmmm...

I ordered both the Dufflecoat singles today and super excited getting my greedy mitts on the split (I love Leach Me Lemonade too so it's double super excitement).

Mine both came yesterday. Isn't 'The Boy From Outer Space' simply pop perfection?

Re: The Hobbes Fanclub
Just got my two Dufflecoat splits (a little belatedly - I think Gary found one of them down the back of the sofa) and they're just lovely. The Annemarie songs are great - twee perfection - and Hobbes Fan Club are, of course, superb. Really looking forward to the AFDFS single as well, I really enjoyed their set at Read and Shout and Matt is such a legend!
Maybe Dufflecoat should have its own thread?

Seconded!julieocean wrote:Maybe Dufflecoat should have its own thread?
I got my Dufflecoats on Friday (sorry for coming so late to the party all you early adopting hipsters) and they're blinking lovely and give me almost the same rush I got from Pristine Christine and I've got a Habit all those years ago. Oh, if only they were on beautiful vinyl, my rapture would be complete.
I'm in the Hobbes Fanclub Fanclub.

Re: The Hobbes Fanclub
Hello everyone, Leon here from The Hobbes Fanclub.
Thank you for all the kind comments on here, its nice to know people like the songs!
Just wanted to let you know that we are playing our debut gig next week, Friday 23rd September at Bradford Playhouse, so if anyone is in the area it would be great if you came along. You can find details of the event here https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=195894550475461 We will have practised a grand total of three times before the gig, so we expect to be relatively true to the term 'shambling', but hopefully in an endearing way...
We are on first at 9.00, but I should warn you that the other two bands are not indiepop, or even really 'indie'. My friend's band Dolphins are a noisy, shouty sort of hardcore riffing monster, and I don't know much about t'other one but I think they're of a similar vein. The event itself is a photo exhibition showing off local talent, with bands in the cellar bar, and its £3 in.

That it is. And was played in a two-song loop with the Weddoes' Queen of Outer Space the other evening, several times over, for my own amusement. :-)skywriting wrote:Mine both came yesterday. Isn't 'The Boy From Outer Space' simply pop perfection?

Re: The Hobbes Fanclub
Sadly, our gig at the Monster Photo Party next Friday has been cancelled.
Unfortunately, unknown to all the organizers and indeed some of the Playhouse staff, the venue will go into administration on 21st September, leaving us without a place to host the night on the 23rd.
Sad times for Bradford..

Re: The Hobbes Fanclub
Hello all,
The Hobbes Fanclub will be making a second attempt at a debut gig (first was cancelled, see above) on 25th November at No Hands/Obscene Baby Auction upstairs at The Polish Club, Edmund Street, Bradford.
It'll be free entry to No Hands with donations for bands upstairs (£2 suggested). Downstairs we play indiepop and 60s soul & reggae. Bands will finish in time for last trains.
No Hands is Bradford's best, free alt-pop party. Obscene Baby Auction aims to bring the best DIY music to Bradford from around the country. Sometimes its a bit louder than I would like.
I'll post more details when I know them but it would be lovely to see any Anoraks there.

Re: The Hobbes Fanclub
Hello again,
There is now a Facebook page for our debut gig on the 25/11.
We're on first at 9pm so if anyone is thinking of coming you'll have no problems escapng from Bradford by public transport afterwards! The Polish Club is a 5-10 minute walk from Bradford Interchange. Its a two minute walk from both the Kashmir and the International so you could have your tea beforehand too.

Re: The Hobbes Fanclub
Hi all,
You can stream the A side of The Hobbes Fanclubs new single, 'Your Doubting Heart' here http://soundcloud.com/shelflife/your-doubting-heart
Its also on the indietracks compilation so no doubt you're likely to hear it there too. We're looking at an early August release for the vinyl but we may have some copies at Indietracks for those who'd like to nab one.
For anyone in northern parts we're playing in Bradford on 29th June at No Hands but I'm personally looking forward to meeting lots of you for the first time at this years Indietracks, I'll be at the Anorak meet no doubt!

Any idea what time will you be on/ finishing? We're tempted but would have to leave in time for the last train to Manchester.
