It's an animated GIF, could that be why?

sad news for fans of Norwich grrrl-core :/

http://feverfever.co.uk/news

Their singles have been amazeballs, they rock live, and I was looking forward to an album.

All the recorded stuff I heard of there's I thought was really lacklustre. Thought they were great live, though.

The Bloodless EP is fantastic, there's s song on there called Static that I can't get enough of.

They're selling off all their merch stupid cheap on their big cartel site today, said EP is two quid on ten inch.

If money was free I would go for it, probably. However, it ain't and I am broke-ass for a change.

I know time marches on and we all age, but writing a piece about music on Channel 4 and watching Her Jazz on The Word (uploaded by Channel 4, enterprisingly), this is the second top rated comment:
gemmakendall1523 wrote:LOL my Aunty's the drummer. its so weird to think that people saw her as a band considering we don't really talk about it that much in our family. I never saw a concert because this happened way before I was born, but I do remember her singing and often showing me her drumming set when I was younger.

Radio 4's Riot Grrrl documentary: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01p9l1l

The interviewee list seems a little underwhelming and I'm sure there's better examples of its modern influence then Emmy The Great but, well, it's a Radio 4 documentary about Riot Grrrl.

IT LIVES;

‘Tuff Enuff Records’ are proud to announce the release of the follow-up to last year’s sold-out riot grrrl/queercore/twee/DIY compilation LP, ‘Why Diet When You Could Riot?’ (listen here: http://tinyurl.com/bphycqb)

“Carry On Rioting” is an 18-band, green vinyl comp featuring a handful of the bands who have come down to Brighton, UK, to play ‘RIOTS NOT DIETS’ a DIY/Queer night taking place in the convivial environs of the west hill community hall. The album also comes with an A3 poster zine and a card insert with download code.

The Tracklisting is as follows, and the album can be streamed at http://tinyurl.com/cr4on3a

Side A
Faggot - ‘It Gets Worse’
Fulhast - ‘Riot on 1655 N Cherokee Avenue’
Sacred Paws- ‘Postcards’
The Middle Ones- ‘Freely With You’
Methodist Centre- ‘The Oi-pic’
Choo Choo Trains - ‘Cherry Pie’
Daskinsey4- Big Gay Heart
Mysterious Monopole- Manuscripts (Dirty Boys)

SideB
Shrag- ‘Heart Open/Mouth Shut’
Homosexual Death Drive- ‘Temple Of The Butthole’
Humousexual - ‘All Day I Dream About Slampt’
Phat Trophies- Big Brain
Summer Hunter- ‘Look At What They’ve Done’
The Sock Puppets- ‘Hey Honey’
Bad Librarians- Interpersonal
Rose Melberg - ‘Please Please Please’ ’
Occult Hand- Musical interludes

Last time around, we sold out of copies pretty much straight away, and expect this to be as, if not more (thanks to some high-profile names joining the party) popular.

This compilation is sold as cheaply as possible. Tuff Enuff is a DIY/not for profit concern, and the very meagre mark-up on the cost price is merely to ensure there are sufficient funds to send all contributors a copy.

The record is only £5 (+P+P) and is available from: http://tinyurl.com/cr4on3a
Please pass this along to anyone else you might think is interested.
Wholesale deals are available, please get in touch via this email address.

We also still have copies of the Roseanne Barrr LP ‘Repulsion’ that we put out last year. It’s a prawn-coloured LP with insert, all details + stream here: http://tinyurl.com/crknrlb
It is £8, but, if you buy it at the same time as ‘Carry On Rioting’ you can enter the discount code ‘bulkbuyrnd’ at the checkout and it will reprice to £4.80, a ludicrous bargain.

Rock on,
Riots Not Diets/Tuff Enuff Records

Just stumbled across this great doc. footage: http://networkawesome.com/special/women-punk/

30 shows containing almost 400 video clips exploring the role women have played in Punk music from the 70's to today, with rare interviews and concerts, videos, documentaries and feature films.

Funny, scary, very interesting Kathleen Hanna interview/profile:

Plenty of stuff I didn't know, but then I'm a Bikini Kill lightweight, so that's not saying much.

Stuff I didn't know either, thanks for the link. Off to see the film tomorrow, complete with Q&A, yay! with Lauren Laverne (not sure if yay but maybe)!

I saw the film on Friday and absolutely loved it. I'd say I was a casual fan of Kathleen Hanna's music (mainly Le Tigre) beforehand but the film really made me realise how much amazing stuff she's done.

Great piece, but weird that it doesn't so much as hint at Le Tigre.

Yeah, I thought that. Unfortunately, I can't see the film at it's solitary Sheffield screening but the DVD release comes apace, so I'll have to go for that.
