I definitely think it's their best album!

There's a reissue (possibly grey area) 7" of that Softiques song kicking around. Monorail Music gets it every now and then. It's a fabulous tune! It's pretty cheap on discogs, too:

Cheers Brogues,

I ordered it a while back from Honest Jons, but it was sold out. How you doing with the rest of the tracklisting, down to 3 or 4 I don't know now, a couple of which are really bugging me

Blabbermouth! How many have you got? Anyone got any ideas for 7 or 12?

I still need to get 7, 12 & 16

7 I think might be Francois De Roubaix, I've got a bunch of his stuff and I listened to some this morning and didn't find, I'm gonna keep listening

any ideas on 16?

It's funny how no-one (myself included) can get 7 or 12, the same ones that Shazzam doesn't know....

Well that was the most perfect record. I'm not even going to download the mp3 because I don't want to spoil it.

That's the best Pastels interview I've read in a very long time, certainly by far the best from the current crop promoting Slow Summits.

that really is a top interview, I don't tend to look at pitchfork, not out of any deep moral/political/philosophical/ethical/cultural conviction, I just don't...

but, yeh, it's a really nice, warm interview that answers a few questions I've had in my head the last few years and adds extra layers of appreciation and understanding for the new lp

I particularly like this quote:
It’s not simple, but the outsider voice is always really interesting-- something oppositional that isn’t immediately embraced by the prevalent body
which seems to me to be a kind of necessary approach to any creative endeavour, that you have to be prepared for- and sometimes even ignore- the fact that the world might not get it/listen/care- and that there's real value in keeping keeping on anyway

I also like the 'appreciation of community, while wanting to be off doing your own thing, being true to yourself' type message that comes across

that's the essence of pastelism, I reckon

am i the only (non-casual) pastels fan for whom it never occurred that stephen and katrina are "together?" just learned that in that interview.

also, on spotify there's a long and quite thorough interview with kid pilot aka, though the conversation leans slightly toward the abstract.

I wish I was The Pastels. I am completely in love with Slow Summits. I've only listened to it about half a dozen times so far because I don't want to spoil it by listening to it when I can't give it my complete attention and these days I don't get enough time to do that for music often but each time I've heard it I've been totally blown to pieces by it.

Was just coming here to gush about Slow Summits and found all my previous messages in this thread were doing just that. But I'm going to do it again. I think it is the most perfect album I've ever heard. It's just full of such beautiful soft and gentle gorgeousness it makes me heart ache with the beauty of it all. I wish I knew the words to say how it makes me feel - but I think that may be impossible.

Are there other Pastels records like 'Slow Summits'? I only really like that one from what I've heard (and I agree that it's tremendous) - the other one I've got is one of the early ones, which I find a bit dull, not anything like so dreamy and wonderful and kickin' leaves in November freeze and all that.

Well, I think they're all great but maybe Mobile Safari is closest followed by Two Sunsets and Illumination. Slow Summits is the best by far though, at least in my opinion. Which is the one you've got?

I was just reading back through the thread and came across this which I'd forgotten about. I guess it didn't happen but has anybody heard any more? I would love to hear more Melody Dog songs..
