Amazing scenes Ray!

(yr on the guest list (and DJing if you want) for the weekender)

In other news Ace Bushy Striptease release 'Slurpt' on Monday 30th June.

You can buy via the Odd Box bandcamp and you'll get beautiful MP3s this Monday! The CDs should follow on in about a week. How exciting. It's a great record, too. And we're only making 100. And we don't have many left. (In other words, BUY IT now).

You can pre-order the first new album by The Wolfhounds since 1990 now. 'Middle Aged Freaks' collects all of their recent recordings on a CD with a handful of never released new songs.

Available now for a bargain price of £8. Shipping in November.

I just called to say how much I'm enjoying the new-ish Wolfhounds album. I know it's a compilation of singles going back a couple of years but the songs (and the band tbh) are new to me. Tunes and lyrics to return to.

Why isn't the Odd Box thread in the Indiepop section, hmm?

That was down to me! I guess I saw Odd Box as a slightly different from the old label (lostmusic) that it grew up from. I guess I've released stuff that is indiepop and a lot of stuff that isn't. I dunno.

I've been resisting the Ethical Debating Society pre-order as I suspected I wouldn't see it for months, but the prospect of three quid off finally tipped the balance. As Trev is hiding his generosity out on Twitter, I thought I'd share his 25% off (just for tonight) offer over here for him and we can all spend money we haven't got together:
https://twitter.com/OddBoxRecords/statu ... 6906122241

And I finally have an excuse to post this video, which is a far finer thing than I usually ever get to see:

Thanks for asking me. It's always weird when I have to think about the label a little. :-)

It's been a rip roaring year for Odd Box. Ten sizzling releases.

Just looking back on all we've been up to this past year. Our first release of the year was the fabulous tape 'Get Back In Line' by Nervous Twitch - who set the bar way high with their punk meets rock'n'roll sound. In February there was a cassette single from pop punks answer to Thin Lizzy - T-Shirt Weather with their first release on the label with "Flutter Through The Winter / (Don't) Hold Your Breath". Two punchy songs that marked their debut release on the label.

In March the return of The Manhattan Love Suicides was finally upon us. 'More Heat! More Panic!' the bands second full length and their first after returning after a 5 year gap was all we hoped it would be: violent, thrilling, whilst also having a tender side. This is one of the records of the year - the 100 red copies sold out in 9 hours! And Odd Box is nearly out of all our other copies, too.

In May we held the last ever Odd Box Weekender. It was a blast. It's successor the DIYPOP fest is happening in 2016. Where Odd Box is joined in promoting by Night of the Triffids and The only thing we have in common is the illusion of being together. Should be just as much fun.

The long awaited Year Of Birds 9 song 7" as part of the 100 Club series hit the shops in June. Short burst of brutal guitar pop. Not many of these beauties left. Also out that month was the keenly anticipated and well received debut LP 'New Sense' by everyones favourite riotpoppers The Ethical Debating Society. This came out on very RED vinyl in an edition of 250 (nearly all gone, folks!) and it's one of those record that gets better and better with repeated plays. A keeper and that's no mistake.

In July we released the first record by Chorusgirl - now signed to Fortuna POP - this 7" single sold out as soon as it came in. Just 100 and it was a sign post towards the bands big bright pop sound. So happy to have had the chance to release something by Silvi and co. Also in July we released a smashing cassette by noisepop upstarts Flemmings who feature members from (Sock Puppets, Bloomer and Ace Bushy Striptease - I know, right?!) and this 4 song EP was on the right side of awesome. And we finished the month with another amazing tape by Fredd Velvet - garage pop for the broken hearted. From Memphis, Tennessee.

Two White Craness released one of the most understated records of the year (in August) and we got to do the cassette version of their fabulous 'Radisson Blue' album. Gentle folk songs with a big POP sensibility were the order of the day. We're already on the second press of this cassette. Snap one up before they're all gone we won't be doing another run.

Our final release of 2015 came out in October and it was years in the making. These things can take time. And sometimes it's worth the wait. 'Lesser Pop' by Frozy is something a bit special. Pressed on to matt black 180 gram vinyl - the album is brimming with pop songs. Songs that sing to you of heartbreak and joy and sadness. And it really is a special record. We've only made 250 and this record is set to become one of the those hidden gems that people return to again and again. There is magic in these grooves.

If you want to get any of these releases head over to our bandcamp page: http://www.oddboxrecords.bandcamp.com where most can still be bought in their physical form.
