Pyrolyse Bred had a Ride bootleg to download not long ago. The a-side was part of their performance at what was called 'The Great British Weekend' (or something similar) in 1991 at Wembley Arena. I went to that show, and they managed to blow the place away. I'd really recommend downloading it. The b-side's pretty ace too.

I remember being let down to the verge of tears by that album.

it's not that i didn't like it... it was just making me feel very uncomfortable at the same time

it's the 'difficult' one, isn't it? it sounds like Gnac or maybe even Animal Collective having an 'experimental' day

I've not listened to it for years, to be honest. I love the first album almost too much though, I reckon.

Thank you for posting this! :) I've been listening to this song over and over for the last few days. Hopefully the album is on it's way from America as I type.
And by me, I mean, Flexo.

OHMYGAWSH SO GOOD! So clever too, I would've just downloaded it for free (like the rest of my music :(), but since it was *only 10 cents*, I threw them 7.77 :3. Is there any way to get in touch with that guy for an interview for my blog?

Oh yeah, and if you guys haven't heard of them, you should definitely check out Letting Up Despite Great Faults, simply brilliant, one of my faves of all time.

I've been listening to 'Going Blank Again' by Ride on my way into work this morning. What a perfect record.

Is anyone a big fan of Ride's 'Brixton' film. I was at that gig, but the film makes it seem even better somehow. All I can remember is trying to stand up on the sloping floor all night and a load of bright lights, and then desperately trying to find the bus to get back to Grimsby. We made it! There was such a celebratory mood that night, though - it's still one of the favourite shows I've been to.

And the film still makes me tingle.

Especially this:

Ride are just about the only thing that makes me want to be 18 again.

Oh yeah!

Not that I was at the show of course, though the one I saw in the Hordern Pavillion in Sydney in 91 was quite a similar vibe. Fucking great. I think I've already dribbled about it in this thread. If I haven't I should have.

I have that Brixton show on VHS. One of my faves from them definitely. I remember auditioning for a band once and we did "Leave them all behind", what a great bass line. Twisterella was great too. I'm going to have to pull out my bootlegs tonight and listen to one whem I get home. Thanks,
-Andy

I was just listening to this really loud at home. Easy to forget how beautiful it is.

Long way removed from much of what preceded it, granted, but no less astonishing an album for that. I do have a soft spot and a lot of time for Pygmalion, and not just for daring to exist at at time when Creation's obsession with far less deserving acts (Oasis, natch, but also the likes of Heavy Stereo, ferchrisssakes) was really starting to stick in the craw.

hmm. well, i was 13 at the time, and this would DEFO have made me sick. funnily enough i was heartily enjoying Oasis, and own Chinese Burn by Heavy Stereo on 7". heady days!

i suppose it's pretty, in a murky sort of way. i just don't know how often i'll ever listen to it.
