The last proper Lemonheads record, the one called The Lemonheads (about three years ago?) had two Tom Morgan songs on it. Baby's Home was the best one. That's a fucking great song.

I'd say it's a bit more like an inept stoner attempt at grunge. None of it's flashy or glam or... er, 'profficient' enough to be hair metal. BAH.

Which one sounds like Iron Maiden?!? I'd be bigging it up if i could find it!

The guitar riffage on the end of (The) Door. Before the "este es una cochina, oink oink" phone message. The rest of the song isn't very Maiden really.

that's a real favourite of mine that EP, I really like Paint and Ride With Me off that

True story: I remember going to some indie club in 1990 when the single had just come out here in the UK and many of my friends were well into acid house/baggy and all that caper and the club seemed to reflect that and we were are making shapes on the dance floor and it was, as they used to say, well nishing until the DJ decided on a 'grunge' 10 minutes and put on 'Different Drum'- so I had a right spirited cavort to it, as was my want- realising mid-wig out that it was just me on the dancefloor- he'd cleared the fucking floor but I thought fuck it, I'm dancing and I did the same for another lonely 4 mins or so through 'Freakscene' by Dinosaur Jr- clearly the DJ decided the sight of me on the dancefloor was too depressing for words and put on 'Loaded' for the fourth time that evening and equity culture was restored

Heading back to what I assumed would be rapturous delight from my chums I was met with looks of disappointment and pity until one friend, somebody I'd known since I was 6, said 'Andy, it's the nineties, mate, nobody dances to that fraggle shit anymore, you've mugged yourself'

And then presumably 'Oh Sit Down' by James came on and everyone but me got on the dancefloor and, well, sat down

I chose not to dance for the rest of the evening... or sit down

that's pretty poignant. the world was not meant for the likes of us andy.

though actually i remember sitting down to 'sit down' by james in the early 00s at fifth avenue nightclub in manchester.

the world was actually meant for me, i just keep getting it wrong.

you should put together a comic book of all your anecdotes of undignified youthing one day. me and possibly your mum would buy it for sure.

excellent, I could include the time me and my friend glen refused to sit down at a james concert while they were playing sit down and loads of students who were sat down were hissing at us 'sit fucking down'

my memory is probably 9 parts embroidery to 1 part fact though

I do recall being amused by people trying to dance to Mrs.Robinson at the indie disco at Catch-22 back in the day. And I can play Frank Mills on the geetar. And the organ bits in My Drug Buddy. And I liked the acoustic version of Big Gay Heart the NME knocked out on a covertape or something.
My apple pies go off today.

Saw them at the Zap Club, Brighton, when Lick came out....what a gig. Since then I've seen them a number of times and have no hesitation in listing Shame About Ray in my list of top ten albums...it is sheer indie-pop perfection. It was therefore with great sadness that I endured Varshons earlier this year. The once great covers band reduced to duets with Kate Moss. It was shit of the purest variety.

Davo, you are a beautiful man and i wish to have your children.

12th anniversary of Manilow? I thought it was, like, the 16th! Unless i'm getting maths very, very wrong.

Ahem, thank you, i think!

Anyway, this is the blurb from the London show, so i guess 16 years is a little out, but either way, SMUDGE!
SMUDGE (Sydney)
The original Australian trio of Tom Morgan, Adam Yee and Alison Galloway will be coming to Europe for the first time since the mid 90s to celebrate the bands 15th year anniversary.
Smudge were favourites of John Peel and released a series of killer singles through-out the 90s that won them many fans from the Lemonheads/Juliana Hatfield camp.
Fire Records will be re-issuing the bands classic 'Manilow' (originally released in 1995 on Domino Records) this month.

I thinks that right - Itunes says 1994 and the CD says it was recorded in 1993

This is probably my favorite Lemonheads song that is not made by anyone who's ever been in the Lemonheads. To be more specific, a great song clearly inspired by the Lemonheads. Other suggestions?
