I've been really enjoying the new 12" by Pivot recently. Just headed over to their myspace and found I've been doing the old 45/33 trick. I prefer it fast. Aww.

I'll still head along to see them at Glastonbury though, see what they do.
And by me, I mean, Flexo.

While Im on this thread, I recently stumbled across a load of downloads on the new Datassette website - http://www.datassette.net/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

After attending my first rave this weekend, I'm finally starting to enjoy some of the more house/dance end of the electronica spectrum rather than just electropop.

Current favorites include Woodhands, VNDLSM, Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip, and the Party Monster soundtrack.

Woop, Pivot! I get a bit excited when Australian music that is actually good gets some props everywhere else. Especially because Dave Miller from Pivot is a really good guy who's always done a lot for experimental/electronic music in Perth (which is where I'm from, in case you're wondering why I care).

The stuff they're doing as a three-piece is way better than the album that came out a few years ago, imo. Not to put you off the delving, like. Laurence and Dave have been doing stuff together for ages though, I think they had an album out on ~scape under another name?

I've been relistening and listening anew to lots of plone lately, including a bootleg of the unreleased second album

why on earth wouldn't warp release it? I don't know the full story, perhaps it wasn't down to the label at all

anyway plone are great

I did like lullatone a lot but the last two releases haven't really grabbed me like the one's before definitely did do

other than that I've been listening to that kid spatula lp too, it's very metallic sounding, whereas plone are more gaseous and sylph-like... perhaps

Zombie Zombie are rocking my world at the moment. They are a French duo who are obsessed with horror film soundtracks and analogue equipment. Apparently they are amazing live.

I've been listening to this a lot recently, too! It's amazing, better than the first album I reckon.

Apparently the guy who signed them to Warp died (!) and the other people at the label weren't so keen on them, so they opted not to put it out. It's a bit odd, you'd think somebody else would have stepped in to save the day.

Their drummer was my highlight of Glastonbury! And I got a badge.

Been enjoying Hardener by Ahmet Sendil so much so I brought the wav file from trackitdown.net. Reminds me of Hardfloor which is a big thumbs up from me!

Has anyone heard anything by Near The Parenthesis? It's a pretty bad name, but I'm currently listening to 'L'Eixample', his concept album about Barcelona, and it is beautiful. It's really warm and comforting. Perfect night time music.
