Live they were definitely more like DISCOUNT than they are on record!

Does anyone feel like making me a compilation (online link or CD) with the best (or at least the very good/fun) from the past 5-10 years or so? I'm very much out of the loop.

despite being 31 very much enjoying 'You Have The Right to Shut The Fuck Up' by ohio's 'the fucking cops'. i have embarrassingly poor punk pop touchstones but going to say the descendents/a less arch spraynard/all pop punk basically sounds the same.

pay what you like here

lol, you know where you put something off and off and off until the point it's easier just to ignore it? sorry dude. i have had it on my phone since you gave it me and it has had quite a lot of listens, so totes appreciate it. i might upload it here actually if anyone's interested.

in brief: screeching weasel and the parasites and the groovy ghoulies are amazing. in fact i've enjoyed some of kepi ghoulie's solo stuff since then (see below). the blink 182 song is genuinely one of the worst songs i've ever heard. and i speak as someone who doesn't mind their mid period. the rest are somewhere in between.

hey i guess they don't all sound the same after all!

I'm jumping in here with an obnoxious list of bands.

http://wearegoodluck.bandcamp.com/album ... ake-griffy

Start this from the beginning, because the album starts perfectly and its paced perfectly and it's just unbeatable. I don't think you could dislike it. It's got a reprise on it, so I'm sold.

http://highdivetheband.bandcamp.com/

Wicked band, that seem to do everything right. Completely wonderful album.

http://losingsleep.bandcamp.com/track/d ... e-this-one

These have an emo edge that makes them really great (and I don't like emo very much). They're the bomb.
(The chord change at 0:40. It's the simple things in life).

http://youngattenborough.bandcamp.com/

I think these guys put songs together fantastically. They're great. I've got their t-shirt on atm. There's a thing.

http://thewalkingtargets.bandcamp.com/t ... -meaning-2

I saw these live recently. Energetic as owt - great laugh. See them if you can.

and there's some pop punk and punk rock!

Yeah, that Blink song is utter shite, soz 'bout that. I got to track 30 or something and realised I hadn't included anything by the band that people who are maybe new to pop-punk (or whatever) expect, or indeed demand to be included, so I just filtered by song length for the shortest one they did.

Upload it here if you can, if nothing else Dennis might enjoy it. Sadly most of the really good stuff I've got is on vinyl and there just aren't enough hours in the day to transfer to MP3. One day maybe, one day...

I saw The Groovie Ghoulies play an absolutely blistering set at a pub in exotic Burgess Hill once. They deserved to be loved by sooo many more people.

I meant the whole 80 minutes, not just the 30 seconds of Blink naffness! There are some real crackers on it.

i realise in retrospect that my comments made me sound like an ungrateful swine. obviously there is a significant portion of pop punk that unfortunately sees listing different words for piss as something valuable to offer the world and that does me sad. still better than the entire lyrical output of the the descendents mind, arf.

can you tell me about the time you seriously damaged yourself at a vandals concert? i remember you telling me about that good anecdote.

i've attached murray's expertly curated playlist, anyone wants a copy DM me and i'll send you a dropbox link. it's worth it just for that screeching weasel song tbh, which is so good.

cheers muz!

Pop n Punk n Rock n Roll n Fab - Reverse are reforming! In their own words, "Older, fatter but still able to ROCK!". The reformation has something to do with China Drum asking them to support them at Newcastle University in May but there's also talk of a warm up show in Stoke. I adored this band. Here's Stem The Slide, a Keraang Single of the Week no less, which somewhat derailed their indie cred! Haha....

At The Joiners? Will ask 'em for their memories. And yes, Exit Condition! Intense and uncompromising early 80s US influenced hardcore. Bassist Rob Jones records under the name Full Crumb - he was on here a while back!

Million Dead then.

Were they the best Punk Rock band of all time? They were when I was 16.

First band I ever saw with just my mates. They did an encore. My War by Black Flag it was. I shook Frank Turner's hand.

I had ringing in my ears for about a week after the show. My shitty admin job was a bit more tolerable.

But then the ringing went away.

I want it to come back...
