Good Grief

Post by indiansummer » Thu Jan 10, 2013 11:32 am

undaunted by such trivialities as 'wondering whether it's a bit off to create yr own band's thread', here i am creating my own band's thread

anyway!

we're Good Grief, an indie-pop-punk trio from Liverpool, featuring current and ex-members of The Machines Will Take Over, The 255s, Hillary & The Democrats, Three Minute Margin, Flamingo 50 and Crocodile God.

no-one likes describing their own band, but we listen to a lot of stuff like Superchunk, Teenage Fanclub, The Vaselines, Minutemen, Hüsker Dü, Swearin', Sourpatch, Small Factory and Buffalo Tom, so i guess we're probably a mish-mash of all that. listen to us here, if you like: http://goodgriefliverpool.bandcamp.com/

we want to make more pop AND punk shows happen in Liverpool. we also want to play yr town. please let us know if you'd like either of those things to happen.

thanks!

yeh! i should prolly mention that we've got a few releases in the pipeline

we're super-excited to be on Happy Happy Birthday To Me's awesome MC12 tape compilation, alongside Sourpatch, Tunabunny, Joanna Gruesome, Orca Team, Cars Can Be Blue, The Werewandas and LOADS more.

we're selling it for £4.50 including postage (£3 without), although we only have a handful of copies so you might wanna head to the HHBTM website. either way, it's very awesome, despite our involvement

as Ray points out, we're gonna be involved in Odd Box's 2013 Singles Club, once we put some finishing touches to our new recordings...

we also have a split 7" with Athens, GA's own Eureka California due out soon, via the combined forces of HHBTM, strictly no capital letters and Rok Lok. still waiting for a few details to be ironed out yet, but it should be out soon.

we're also in the process of sorting another split, which hopefully we'll be able to get properly excited about soon. tell you more when we know.

finally, we're going on tour with Eureka California in April! here's how it's looking so far...

5th April - Nottingham, Chameleon
6th April - Durham, Fishtank
7th April - Leeds, Wharf Chambers
8th April - Birmingham, tbc
9th April - tbc but hopefully Exeter
10th April - tbc but hopefully Brighton
11th April - London, Power Lunches
12th April - tbc but hopefully Sheffield
13th April - tbc

still a few things to sort out, but we're very excited indeed. hooray!

I STILL haven't heard Float Riverer.

I've ordered a copy. And a bunch of other stuff too. I hate you.

Just listened to Clean Up Yr Own Shit Pal. Liked it. Spiky, I like spiky.

So if you're interested in doing the gig on May 28, you've got yourself a gig.

more new recordings finished!

we've got a split 7" coming out with one of our fave bands BUZZorHOWL... they're a kinda new indie rock/punk band from roughly the same part of the world as us. (includes members/ex-members of Drive, Doktor Combover, The Shook-Ups and The Stags, for anyone into fraggle and/or garage stuff). think Dinosaur Jr, Leatherface, Buffalo Tom and the early 90s in general. they're ACE.

we'll post our tracks for the split on bandcamp soon. expect covers and guest vocal appearances. WE'RE EXCITED.

here's one of our tracks from the aforementioned (and forthcoming) split with BUZZorHOWL: http://drunkensailorrecords.bandcamp.co ... /split-7-8

it's a J Church cover featuring backing vocals from Sarah Maher and Lindsay Munro (of Town Bike and Fist City respectively). one of my favourite songs by one of my favourite bands...!

anyway, we'll have vinyl copies of it soon

...and if you head to the bandcamp page now, you'll be able to hear a track by BUZZorHOWL from the split. recommended for fans of Dinosaur Jr, Buffalo Tom, Husker Du, Leatherface, Jawbreaker and fraggle stuff

they're awesome:

I've been listening to Good Grief on bandcamp (at work! I'm a rebel) for the past half hour. Looking forward to hearing these live at Indietracks. Do you already have enough songs for 40 minutes? Will you play covers? In the light of recent discussions I'd like to request 'Kill the poor'. It should do fairly well with the middle class crowd.
