yeah, i'm scared of looking like a rugby player! i guess by over the knee i mean more like mid thigh-ish. well, maybe lower-mid-thigh. just so you can still see them when worn with a dress, but they're still kind of long?

this might be the weirdest thing i've ever typed on the internet. mostly because it doesn't make that much sense (except to me, in my head) i wish i could draw a picture.

no, i get exactly what i mean! in very very very cold times, if two pairs of tights do not cut it, i might go for mid-thigh black socks on top of it all, but it kind of blends in as you say!

yes, i'm not so big on the ones below the knee personally, but i think some people can work them all! it's all in feeling comfy, looking happy etc. i've found there are certain looks that i really like, but never feel comfortable in wearing myself. yet i fall back into the temptation of it now and again just to feel "argh, not me!" once more, haha.

actually, i think they work better on shorter girls, or girls with shorter legs, i suppose. because i love the thought of it, but my legs certainly don't. even though they're supposed to go way above the knee (they do in the picture!), the always get stuck right on the knee, ugh! i hate that.

Same here...supposedly over the knee socks usually have to be stretched beyond their elastic limit to reach over my knees and then they just fall down all the time. Bums. I do think they look cute on other people though. You could totally pull them off and look super stylish, Sandy.
Give over.

Do you wear over the knee socks on bare legs with dresses? Or do you also wear tights or whatever under them? I'm still doubting on what looks better - I think the bare legs look better but that is so cold right now, and I don't think it looks that bad with tights.. just a little weird. Hmm

i'd wear tights, but in another colour. grey with black and vice versa, or something a little more daring, like purple or blue and then black.

I wear knee socks and over the knee socks with little regard for whether it looks right. I think their very nature is that they're a little bit spazzy and I'm ok with that.

yeah, i'm thinking of going the tights + over-the-knee (um, mid-thigh, on me) socks in contrasting colours route. i'd probably wear them on their own as well, if it wasn't so freaking cold right now.

I wasn't going to buy anything in the sales, but I found some things super cheap that I'd been after for ages:

CULLOTTES. YES.

I also bought some mustard yellow and emerald green 90 denier tights in the Accessorize sale, and they're the comfiest tights I've ever worn.

how come whenever i find a dress i like the back turns out to be all hoochie-mama style? i'm not good at pulling that off and still looking classy!

i'm at that stage now where EVERYTHING i own looks really horrible and i just want a million new clothes but can't find anything i actually like.

My entire wardrobe (excluding underwear and socks of course) was purchased from Charity Shops, you can pick up some amazing stuff - and its all very different from what everyone else is wearing - no chance of 2 other people turning up in the same outfit. I also get all my kids stuff too either from Charity shops or off ebay. Completely object to paying a fortune for clothes and its great fun searching out great bargains - a lot of the stuff is brand new and still has tags on. Im also doing my bit for recylcling - I regularly sort through my wardrobe and get rid of stuff (giving it back to charity of course), and I can afford to buy clothes often as I pay a fraction of full price for stuff.

I don't find anything wrong at all with playsuits. I think those one-piece things can be really hot. I'd wear them all the time if I had the body for it.

I think that'd look great on you! There were some really nice playsuits with skorts(?!) from the downstairs concession bit of Oxford St Topshop, I think it might've been Annie Greenabelle and Dahlia or Tara Starlet. I can't go in there at the moment as I'm meant to be saving money and everything is tooooo tempting! I think I'm going a bit nuts, but I have to buy boring things like cardigans cos mine are all falling apart.

thanks! i went and tried it on and it actually wasn't nearly as bad as i thought it was gonna be. not sure if it suited me or not, but the fabric was SO gross and cheap that i wouldn't have bought it anyway. i could hardly stand it touching my skin. what's up with miss slefridge and topshop? the past couple of years i've noticed the prices go up but the quality keeps getting worse.

Burtons are currently selling suits with a shirt and tie for less than a ton! Bought one Friday for a wedding and now just looking for other opportunities to get all dapper...
I may be ugly and hate-filled but... wait, what was the third thing you said?

Pockets Filled With Matches are no more, but we still have copies of our e.p. 'If Time Heals You' for sale, if you'd like one

i've just received a few ace vintage dresses from ebay sellers but they're all too summery to wear them now. sadface. i've managed to make one a bit more suitable with a cardi and thick tights but the rest are really meant for summer and warmer spring days.
