Fortuna POP! - The end

Record Label, badge of quality, way of life. You'll already know about this I imagine, but it's not official until it's on anorak, so:

Obviously, no one who does FPop has the faintest idea who I am or cares much what I think but, given that Mr. Price knocks around here from time to time, I'd just thought I'd take the opportunity to thank him for releasing this...

...and this (especially this)...

...and this...

...and that...

...and all the others. And obviously, y'know, don't stop. I've got money if that's what's needed. Only 50p, but that could be enough, surely...

A proper mark of quality, isn't it?

I was once a "fortuna pop dj" at a bearsuit gig. I doubt if Sean remembers me either, but thanks for releasing good music!

(and thanks for putting on Martha last week!)

One member of this forum has nailed it. I hope he doesn't mind me lifting this from Facebook.
a layer of chips wrote:I find it very difficult to get sad about Fortuna Pop closing down because, like many of the best, most precious things in life, it's a miracle it happened at all and I'm so glad it did.

Sean Price basically paid for some of the best nights out and the best nights in. He funded records and events that introduced me to the most amazing people and bands and records I'd probably have never heard of.

Sean kept putting out underground pop records when no other bugger was, and he while he might have lost a load of cash on those Butterflies of Love singles, there always seemed to be something that kept him going.

And so while he might like rugby and look a bit like Alvin Stardust's younger brother, the vast majority of the records his label has put out have changed my life immeasurably for the better.

It's just a shame he can no longer can claim to have three quarters of the bands on our all-dayer line-up and will have to pay to get in this year.

Think on, Sean.

(Love you)

Fortuna POP! has been home to so many of our favourite bands, so that he would even talk to us, never mind put our records out, has been a strange kind of honour.

We first met Sean Price at Indietracks in 2012. We were the first band on the Sunday, playing at around midday. He said hello and scared the crap out of us.

Since then he has patiently replied to our myriad of panicked emails all hours of the day and night as we nervously wobbled our way through gigs and recordings always wondering if he would still like us after we had yet another silly idea.

Fortuna POP! announced it’s closure at Indietracks this year. It seems like a surreal circle closing. Sean has pretty much held our hand from Indietracks 2012 to 2016. We gave him his first taste of Buckfast (which he hated) and he somehow took us to headlining Friday night at Indietracks (which we loved). It seems like a terrible exchange.

Thank you Sean. Thanks for letting us do the things we never thought we could do.

xoxo

[spam] I wrote this about the loss of FPop. Probably forgot about 47 bands, but with a label that good, what can you do? http://brilldream.blogspot.co.uk/2016/0 ... rgers.html [/spam]
And we just can't wait to make more mistakes and to fluff our breaks, and to stuff our faces with cake.
