Re: Birmingham

A once industrious thread, they called it 'the thread of 1000 conversations'. It's a bit quiet of late. Been working in Solihull this last year and my trips into Brum are most irregular. Anyway, I wanted to post this thoughtful discussion of the latest round of Birmingham's regeneration to nowhere:...

Re: Your Indietracks 2016 wishlist

Falling and Laughing When we come to tally these votes up, please can we also include all the occasional votes for Falling and Laughing from last seven years wishlist threads too. I think that's how AV works and it would hopefully give us enough votes for the first-thing-in-the-church-on-a-Sunday h...

Re: Falling & Laughing (the band)

I know I've been really poor at posting on anorak in general since, you know, new jobs and all that other stuff that gets in the way of scrolling dreamily through the lovely pictures and thoughtful links on the distant islands thread, but... Falling and Laughing have done a new EP! This one is calle...

I'm not really in to bats or surveying, but being part of a systematic bat survey on St Kilda sounds like a dream job.

Re: Things I am listening to now then

Homesick by Abderdeen swept me off my feet on the way into work this morning and now I can't stop listening to it. It's gorgeous, perfectly constructed, and the guitar sounds amazing.

Re: The Star Wars geek thread

Perhaps I've got the second stage of that to come in the near future... What age and how did you introduce Ralph to Star Wars? These are important parenting questions that I'm pondering over myself at the moment ;)

Re: The Star Wars geek thread

Let me know how it goes - I don't think I've spoken to anyone who's tried it before. I tried giving it a go a few years ago, but Star Wars is just so familiar I find it easy to go off and do other things while it's on.

Re: The Star Wars geek thread

This threads been bumped and I notice that no-ones posted about watching Star Wars in Machete order - so I'll just pop this here: http://static.nomachetejuggling.com/machete_order.html The argument is to use the original trilogy as the framing device for what's most salvagable out of the prequels. Re: Birmingham Popfest 2014

All the previous times that I've been booked to play at the Actress and Bishop have fallen through at the last minute, so it's quite nice for the opposite to happen.

Re: Star Trek

Watching TNG is like putting on really lovely old pajamas. It's so familiar and comforting. I'm probably old... I do love TNG, but when I was at school, I always had loads of homework for the day after TNG was on. Even now the music makes my heart sink as it triggers a part of me that thinks I have...

I only seem to drift by anorak occasionally these days but it always makes me happy that there's a thread of full of distant islands and dreaming. Don't ever stop <3
