The Silver Abduction are looking for shows

http://www.myspace.com/thesilverabduction The Silver Abduction are pretty much as gig ready as can be and are looking for shows from July onwards (we've got our first show booked at the end of the month). Probably around London would be best for us, although our drummer lives in Cardiff, so South W...

Re: Primavera Sound

That were fun, if a little exhausting. Particular highlights for me were: The Vaselines, Saint Etienne, Th' Faith Healers, Sonic Youth, Jarvis Cocker. The line-up was so strong, that there was rarely a moment where there was nothing going on of interest. Not so good things were: the increase in the ...

Re: recording on computers

I've been playing around with Live8, and the looper tool is a lot of fun. The advantage being it's a lot easier to integrate your loops with other midi instruments / sound clips. You can even drag and drop the loops as soundclips, and so take snapshots as you build up the sound collage. One of the b...

Re: Northern Soul

If anyone fancies burning off that excess chocolate on Easter Sunday, I'm spinning some Northern Soul at this (and probably playing some of the tunes mentioned in this thread). I know South East London is a bit off limits for some, but it'll be fun... NIGHTBUS TO CATFORD: A night of Ska and Northern...

Re: your favourite record shops?

Dream Machine Update: They have to shut up shop in Lordship Lane (:(), but are apparently going to start doing record fairs with bands at the Half Moon in Herne Hill (the first one is on April 5th). On a more positive note, went into The Hive in Greenwich the other day (on Creek Road, where Flying D...

Re: The Musicians wanted thread!

Bump! The Silver Abduction are still looking for a keyboard player. We decided to drop the multi-instrumentalist plea as it may be a bit ambitious, but if you can play anything else (even if it's triangle) then that would be nice. We have a bundle of lovely melodramatic popular song that needs to be...

Re: Primavera Sound

Once again, a very strong bill - particularly chuffed about the addition of Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo & Wooden Shjips. Looks like there's going to be plenty of clashes in the running order again.

I've heard from a reliable source that a certain Anorak-friendly New York band with a rather long name might be playing.

Phil - I certainly do have a copy (procured from the Mr Trebus Record Emporium on Lee High Road - very good for Northern Soul Sevens) - I'll rip it into mp3 at the weekend. Watch this space.

More bands added..

A Certain Ratio
Oneida
Joe Crepusculo

Starting to feel a bit more comfortable about buying that early bird ticket purely on the strength of last year's shenanigans. The exchange rate is gonna hurt though.

Re: your favourite record shops?

a really nice new little shop in london is the dream machine in east dulwich (89 lordship lane, SE22 8EP) which is in the basement of a greasy spoon cafe. fairly varied, interesting stock, quite heavy on the 90s space rock (lots of old stuff on rocket girl). great people running the place, they see...
