Re: Are indiepop people really all that nice?

At this point I'd like to apologise for habitually not talking to anyone at gigs.

Re: gender equality and indiepop

On the methodology front, if you go through the Indietracks 2012 lineup and categorise the bands whether the vocals are predominantly male, female or 50:50, the spread is roughly 30:40:30.

Re: gender equality and indiepop

I feel bound to say, having spent the last two days creating a huge spreadsheet of bands and their genitals, it would just be weird that instead of booking bands based weighing up how much you (the promoter) like their sound and whether people would pay to see the band, you'd now have to update your...

Re: gender equality and indiepop

Those are great examples, now we're getting somewhere. I'm not sure that can be construed as getting somewhere. I just wanted to show that people replace people in bands; Male to female, female to male, male to male and female to female. It proves nothing. Its all data filling up the story of how a...

Re: gender equality and indiepop

Can you provide examples of women who have displaced men in interband movements? Lan (bass) replaced a male bass/guitar in Evans The Death - although she's now left ETD to join Joanna Gruesome. Isabel (bass) replaced two previous male bassists in the The Fireworks. Those are great examples, now we'...

Re: gender equality and indiepop

It's not a pattern. People leave bands for all sorts of reasons. I am sure some women leave bands to join other bands. You are quite right, but if we are to research the reasons for the gender inequality of bands at Indietracks 2012, and specific bands are changing over time from 'female bands' to ...

Re: gender equality and indiepop

Sorry to pick up on a single point, but Shrag in this instance are a great example as they've replaced a female drummer with a male one, therefore moving themselves from a female band (Indietracks 08) to a male band (Indietracks 10 ) Same thing happened with Allo Darlin'. The Just Joans also lost t...

Re: gender equality and indiepop

Is there anything stopping the So Tough So Cute folk from putting on a rival to Indietracks, possibly called 50:50Fest, with a carefully balanced split of bands that is more representative of the population's gender split?

Ideas for TV shows

I had this ace idea for a TV show in a dream last night, its about this man who when he gets angry he turns into a different man in a really muddy garden somewhere until he calms down.

Kind of like a cross between the Incredible Hulk and Gardener's World.

It would be awesome.

That is all.

I just spent an unexpected tax rebate on a brand new xBox 360, and I've got a few Project Gotham Racing games and Beautiful Katamari, but I'm finding that when I try to connect to xBox Live to play multiplayer games with random faceless people across the world, there's no one out there, presumable a...
