Re: How many bands that played the first one are still going

Wintergreen - Yep but inactive There is an album; it will be out in 2015, but the details are still being figured out. Child-rearing, emigration (Alec to the U.S., me to Liverpool) and day jobs have been getting in the way, but we're not ruling out a gig some day. I'm also quite excited about the n...

Re: Vegan & Vegetarian Food

I had no idea you could freeze tofu. What an ignoramus I've been, throwing away half-packs of tofu over the years. You may have saved us both money and embarrassment in the future. Pretty sure it's not "crazy chemical-y shit" really though - just water freezing and melting where/when you want it to,...

I'll make a note of that, but with it being very close to my birthday I might be off spending time with relatives that weekend.

Re: Bristol

I asked for a bottle of ginger beer at the Lanes once, as I saw one in the fridge behind the counter. They explained to me after they'd opened it and taken my money that it was probably a member of staff's as they don't actually sell ginger beer... Bit weird, but they were only trying to be helpful ...

Re: Bristol

Does anyone that used to live in Bristol live there anymore? The pop scene here currently seems to consist of about 6 people. Counting myself! We (Sylvie and I) still live here, but we never went to many pop events to start with and for various reasons haven't been to any for ages now. What still g...

Re: Selling stuff

I bought a second hand Arcam Alpha amp 20 years ago and it's still going strong. Yes, I bought my Alpha 2 the best part of ten years ago at a second-hand shop for the bargain price of £45, and used it in my second stereo set-up for most of that. Then we used it every day for a couple of years until...

Re: Selling stuff

I work for an online hi-fi store now. We offer trade-ins on old Hi-Fi equipment and clear anything that people trade in on eBay. It's usually the best way - stick a 'no reserve' on it and you might be surprised on how much your hi-fi stuff goes for. Then again, the fact that we're a 'power seller' ...

Re: Pretty stuff for the house

We don't have any massive plans really, because we're not sure we'll be successful yet and we already own enough furniture to fill a house. But we just don't really like the egg chairs as they are, so we saw moving as a good opportunity to get rid of them or get them to a state we liked. The only th...

Re: The Football

football is indeed shit if redknapp's ridiculous gamble pays off I might think differently (quite why I want qpr in the premier league, I'm not sure, can someone talk me through that again?) but I don't expect it to, in fact all the things I suspected might happen (stay stuck limpet-like to the bot...

Re: Hi-Fi Hardware - Turntables, Valves & Tapes

The stereo I have at the moment has only a line in. Upgrading the stereo is something I am considering too. Perhaps these are decisions which should be made in the same mental breath. Yes. Don't buy a phono stage then buy an amp with a phono input straight afterwards. It may sound better with a ded...
