Re: Pic 'n' Mixx mix CD swap - what did you get?

Wonder if anyone grabbed any of my three mixes. Two of them actually had picture covers! The third was a hurried affair with several long difficult songs to challenge the listener.

All went under the name Turntable Revolution.

Re: Pic 'n' Mixx mix CD swap - what did you get?

I got a mix called Now I Hear The Train which has the splendid Hardy Boys on it. And quite a few things I've never heard. I confess I spent five minutes scrutinizing track listings. Should have just closed my eyes and put my hand in. That's my partner's mix! So it contains a lot of 'my' music. o_O ...

Re: Pic 'n' Mixx mix CD swap - what did you get?

Just listened to my cd. Wow, not a duff track on it, but if I was to pick favourites I'd go for The Ballet and The Just Joans though I feel I'm being unfair to a dozen other tracks.

So thanks Martin Stocks, whoever you may be.

Re: Indietracks 2010 memories and photos

Could somebody please invent a time machine, I want to go back to Indietracks.

If I had my time again I'd ditch the quiz and go see M J Hibbett instead.

My review of the weekend is now up on my blog, Turntable Revolution, should you have a wish to waste ten minutes of your life.

Re: Indietracks 2010 memories and photos

Keeping the memories alive by trying to buy Felt Tips and Just Joans stuff off Wee Pop and finding they've all sold out.

So spent lots of money at the Pebble shop instead.

Re: How loud is 600 watts?

Thanks. I reckon 600 watts will be loud enough as it's for a disco and I think the room is probably about half the size of the shed at Indietracks. I always tend to exaggerate sizes of things (stop sniggering).

The new Cavalcade single. Not sure whether that's funny or sad.

Re: Indietracks 2010 memories and photos

Ok finding Anarchy Records shut up was a big pisser. Is it dead forever? It seems to shut on weekends, but not every weekend. It's rather odd. It does it on random weekdays too, it's really sad. Though last time I was in there was the first time there's never been anything I wanted. I went on a thu...

Ha,ha. That told me.

I meant anyone on here. Surely everyone at Indietracks visits here at least twice a day.

How loud is 600 watts?

I know some of you put on gigs so you might be able to answer this. Just how loud is 600 watts? I'm thinking of hiring a 600 watt sound system for my wedding and wonder if that'll be loud enough. The room holds about 170 people though there'll only be about 80 guests. The room size is probably about...

Re: Is running a record shop even remotely viable these days

No. I was talking to Alan of Alan's in East Finchley last week and he told me that many shops are struggling as he knew owners who were saying how terrible things had been in recent months. I'd say you'd have a chance if you owned the property/shop and you went down the secondhand route. Online sale...

Re: Indietracks 2010 memories and photos

I forgot the Just Joans. Rather better than I ever thought they could be. Can't believe nobody saw The Cavalcade. No they're not twee and they don't write songs about butterflies and cakes and love being sparkly and invincible, they're more like Kafka: The Musical and yet they make melancholia sound...

Re: Indietracks 2010 memories and photos

Best moments---every minute. I knew it would be good the minute I found the Through The Flowers 12" in a charity shop in Nottingham. I didn't buy it, I wanted to leave it for someone who needed it. Ok finding Anarchy Records shut up was a big pisser. Is it dead forever? Best band, well nobody has me...

Beach Fossils

Discovered the Beach Fossils recently in Rough Trade. Sort of like a K version of JAMC/POBPAH with the noise filtered out. From the US. I think Rough Trade are the only store stocking the vinyl version of the lp. Rather splendid.

Re: Sarah Records Documentary - Calling all Sarah Fans!

I used to put on bands back in the early nineties. Used to have one or two Sarah bands bills. Through them I met Matt and Clare. In fact Clare and I are still good friends. She'll be coming to my wedding this September along with Harvey of Another Sunny Day fame. She told me about your documentary a...

Re: The Hardy Boys

That Hardy Boys single cost me a good old dollop of money a few years back on ebay. Worth every penny. How they never made an impression back then I'll never fathom. The band were kind enough to send me a few cds of old and new stuff. I hope they get more attention this time around. Check out The Fr...
