Re: Portland, Oregon

This is a very old thread, but does anyone know about Portland-area happenings? Pop related, zine related, anything else interesting?

Ooh, thanks for the suggestions! :) I've heard of a few bands on that list now, but not many. How'd Madrid popfest go?

Re: Spanish Language Music

La Buena Vida play some nice Spanish indiepop. Maybe you can check out Migala, they're a Spanish indieband, too, but more, ahem, experimental / lo-fi whatever. Not really indiePOP. I saw a Cineplexx gig at the weekend, this chap sings mainly in Spanish, I quite liked him, you can find lots of his m...

i made these tonight (along with a potato salad and a green salad) and they were delicous (and super easy!) i modified it a bit and used 4 cloves of garlic, one whole onion, 3 sprigs of rosemary and 3 tbsps of tomato puree for 2 400g tins of beans http://bellavitaitalia.blogspot.com/2008/06/super-c...

Re: Spanish Language Music

You could try Entre Ríos for some Argentinian Indie/Electropop. Far too MOR for this forum, but I also like Bacilos. I also have a penchant for Spanish language ska music such as Inspector (Mexican band who do quite traditional ska with a Mexican twist) and Ska-P (very political Spanish ska-punk) b...

Thanks much! I'll check those out :) ...

Whoa...I had wondered this for some time. Granted, "rocket" is only used here by restaurants I can't afford to patronize, but I can still look at the menus and wonder ;)

Spanish Language Music

Oddly specific? Hope not...I'm trying to learn Spanish, and thought I could motivate myself by listening to some music with Spanish lyrics. My knowledge of Spanish-language music is pretty pathetic though...all I know is Juniper Moon. Does anyone want to share some recommendations with me? Of course...

Mine arrived recently too. They're great. And perfect as I start my own adventures in unemployment! Yay! :) (But, not about your unemployment, unless you're going 'yay' about it!) I posted this earlier, but I think I somehow managed to accidentally delete it. ANYWAY.. I only oreder my zines the oth...

It's already sold out from Jigsaw?! Well, good for the band! :) For US people, it looks like it's also available as an Amazon download, though.

Adventures in Unemployment Zine

Can I talk about a non-music zine? I guess if you don't want to read about it, you can quickly click on something else... Anyway, my zine is about unemployment, an issue that I'm sure a lot of people can relate to. I just started selling it on Etsy. My shop is here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/page0sco...

Re: San Francisco Popfest May 21 - 24th 2009

So, I feel silly writing this, but since no one else I know is really into indiepop, I'll be at popfest by my lonesome. It's boring to stand around clubs by yourself, so does anyone want to meet up? It'd be nice to meet some other anorak folks...
