Re: Veronica Falls

Can I just listen to Teenage forever? It's perfect. From the harmonies down to that little atonal solo at the very end.

Re: Glasgow

I think that might have been a rubbish description. Come to think of it, they're way closer to Crystal Stilts than JAMC, but not as gloomy.

Re: Glasgow

I've never actually listened to Girls Names before. What do they sound like? Has anyone been to Broadcast for a gig yet? Girls Names have that reverby JAMC thing going on, but their songs are more like 60s girl group songs sung by a bloke in 2013. That description is probably way off but that's wha...

Re: New musical discoveries

Meursault. Not new, but new to me. They're one of those bands I've wanted to listen to for ages but never got around to until now, and I'm smitten. I love this video. You simply can't beat a man with a powerful voice, a plaintively-strummed ukulele and a fuckload of swans. http://www.youtube.com/wat...

I do this, but on iTunes instead of spotify.

Re: The Netherlands

My soon-to-be wife and I are seriously considering moving to the Netherlands in the next year. As RITH has said, it's not the most indiepop-friendly place in the world but it just feels right. People ride bikes *everywhere*. That's enough reason for me to want to move there.

Re: learning to play guitar for the first time

As for a guitar, I think one of the most important things is the width of the neck, depending on your hand size. Electric guitars are easier to learn on because the strings are, like, I dunno, they just take less effort to make em do what you want. though there's always the option of a nylon strung...

Re: Half My Heart Beats - an indiepop club night, Glasgow

I've had a go at making a Spotify playlist with what we played at Half My Heart Beats on Saturday night (well, what I played - lynsosaurus was away at a wedding). It's over here if you want a listen. Edit - in case anyone's confused, we stopped doing our club night a while back but we still do a mon...

You could argue that the fact there are more important issues to do with gender equality doesn't mean that this isn't worth discussing, in addition to those more pressing problems. *copyright afogofideas I certainly think it's worth discussing, i...

Re: Pipas

I've liked Pipas for a while now but I feel like they're starting to become one of my favourite bands. I'm listening to them more and more. I find them really soothing, but not in a 'whale song' kind of way. They're soothing but exciting at the same time, their songs put a bounce in my step and it's...

Grace is in a new band called EXPENSIVE. They're quite different from The Middle Ones (electronic instead of guitars) but I like it.

I've only skimmed the thread so far but it all sounds promising. Once a few more details are in place could a Kickstarter campaign be worth thinking about?

I just wanted to bump this thread to say how much I love Helping Hands. I think it's their best album yet by a distance. I still think they're terribly underrated.
