Re: getting the train

It'll be worth it. :) I'm sure. I'm getting a bit stressed about the whole trip, but it'll all work out fine. As long as I can find the right platforms, ticket machines, streets, et cetera. If anyone happens to be in the same 13:55 train: I should be in coach B, seat 35A. RITH, can you make a point...

Re: Velvet Underground

Also, any suggestions on Lou Reed or John Cale solo albums? Cale's Slow Dazzle is nearly perfect for many many reasons, most notably i) a Brian Wilson tribute song that doesn't try to sound like The Beach Boys, ii) a creepy cover of Heartbreak Hotel that recasts it as a building full of dangerous l...

Re: A Fine Day For Sailing

Good news- A Fine Day for Sailing have a) a new album, b) a clubnight, c) a tour, d) a new single all coming up in the next few months.

Bad news- A Fine Day for Sailing do not have a drummer. We'd like one. Spread the word.

Re: A Fine Day for Sailing shows

Ullo, we (Fine Day) haven't got anything in our 2012 gig calendar until June. We'd love to play some more shows around the country. Anywhere will do, we're not fussy.

Drop me or Matt a line if you fancy putting us on. We have a fancy new single out soon.

Re: A Fine Day For Sailing

I've started a thread elsewhere, but just since there's a Fine Day topic - we're looking for a new cello player. If you know anyone who might be interested, get in touch with me or Matt. And if anyone wants us to do gigs n stuff, we're taking bookings for later in the year and early 2012 now too. Ye...

Hello cello (London)

Hello. Are you/do you know a cellist in London? One who likes pop music (or maybe indiepop music specifically)? One who wants to join a fun band with six other people? The cello player from A Fine Day for Sailing has recently departed, and we are looking for a replacement for gigs, recording etc etc...

A Fine Day for Sailing are named after a Go Sailor song, if that helps?!

We're so ridiculously excited about this.
Especially all those Kiss covers we'll be playing.

If I go (and Sharon seems keen...), I plan to do the same. I'll be like a fatter, uglier version of Joel. Just for you.

Vinyl manufacturers

Just as a general query, is there such a thing as a short-run vinyl manufacturer? If I wanted to get a really limited 7" (i.e. < 100) pressed up, is there anywhere that'd do it? I'm guessing there is in the US, but what about the EU? Just a general query - I'd even appreciate details on US manufactu...

Re: LDN: READ&SHOUT Save Libraries: Jens Lekman et al MARCH

So...who's actually got tickets? People on here? Locals? Library fanatics? Jens fans? I don't know anyone who actually managed it apart from SBJ.

I'm still shocked at how quickly this sold out. And quite scared about potentially playing to 200 people.

Re: The Gresham Flyers.

Just in case anyone still cared, The Gresham Flyers split up this week.

I'm not allowed to talk about why, pending resolution of lawsuits and until one of the band gets out of rehab.

Re: Distribution

Do you mean digital distribution? I use TuneCore, which lets you pick and choose which channels you want to use; they've got Amazon mp3, iTunes, eMusic Spotify, and a load more. Obviously, the more channels you choose, the pricier it gets, but if you're confident of selling a few downloads, you'll r...

Ooh, brill! I like your single - I should mention The Beach Boys are one of my favourite bands, so that fits nicely!

Re: The Musicians Offered Thread

Since I'll shortly be at a loose end musically, I'm posting in here. In short, I'm in London and primarily play bass (and do a pretty good job, if I do say so myself), though six-odd years of instrument swapping with The Gresham Flyers mean that I've developed enough skill to play rhythm/lead guitar...

we were going to put her on on the '05 tour too but cancelled cos a friend & co-organiser was in a coma having been knocked down in a hit & run outside our previous show (he later died). i remember a serious wtf moment, someone complaining online about how selfish we were to stop them seeing mirah!...
