Re: Are there any indiepop Kiwis?

Yeah it felt like a Greatest Hits show - but in the best possible way.

Are people still planning on going to the Summer Series this Sunday?

Re: Are there any indiepop Kiwis?

Or go see The Clean... http://www.nzmusician.co.nz/index.php/p ... temid/4470
I think Markie's attendance at that may be mandatory.

I was also thinking of going along to the Summer Series to celebrate the absence of any any pallid 'roots' bands.

Re: shit you find on youtube by bands you love that is good

Wow this is pretty amazing. Check out the Martin Phillips dancing up the front *groan* - I obviously can't work anything - so here...

Re: Are there any indiepop Kiwis?

It took me a long time to realise Surf Friends weren't Surf City tbh. I've never seen them play or really listened to their music - but I don't feel like going out of my way to do so. Richard/Mike: are you guys going to Fred Taylor Park on Sunday to see the Waitakere game, I was thinking of heading ...

Great stuff - see you all then.

I'll send L a text as well - although he seems to have a terrible cold/exams combo going at the moment.

Re: Are there any indiepop Kiwis?

3 items on this post's agenda #1 Hi Kris. I got The Coolies album at the album release show the other week. They were fantastic live, but I have to say I'm a little dissapointed with the album. Stefan seems to have had quite a lot of influence on the sound of it, and I'm not sure I'm keen on the res...

Re: what book are you reading?

I haven't been contributing much to the book talk here recently, but just thought I should let you know one of my bestest friends Alex just had her first book published and I think a lot of the people on here will really like it. I was thinking about taking a couple of photos of some of the pages so...

Re: Are there any indiepop Kiwis?

I really hate the way Martin Phillips is convinced their must be some antipodean prejudice to explan their lack of international success. If you think of all the great bands from those years that people talk about on these boards who never got any kind of success, it's hardly surprising that The Chi...

Re: Flying Nun

on the topic of Bob Scott, he recently made a short playlist of his fav FN songs - worth a glance at least: http://soundcloud.com/flyingnunrecords/sets/robert-scott-nun-pod-2/s-xwuT0 also did a guest blog post. kind of predictable nostalgia - oh well http://flyingnunrecords.wordpress.com/2010/09/24/...

Re: Are there any indiepop Kiwis?

yep I'm going to The Bats. Not sure what time we're going, probably ten-ish.

ALSO, Alexis and I are DJing at DOC this Friday. Plus James Duncan is going to be playing a short set, so if anyone fancies that I will be there (obvs).

anyone here a fan of Steven Millhauser? I'd never heard of him until recently - but read his first novel Edwin Mullhouse the other week and it's GREAT. this blog post gives a better description than I can; http://perpetualshotgun.blogspot.com/2007/04/edwin-mullhouse.html http://www.squidinkbooks.com...

I haven't no. My skills in organisation are really being shown up. I don't appear to have L's number on my phone so I may need to draw on the power of delegation.

Re: Are there any indiepop Kiwis?

just chatting with alexis - i imagined 'early evening' as 6ish, while she imagined it as 4ish. where do others stand on this issue? 5-5.30ish?

for anyone who hasn't worked out the real life consequences of this debate - it has the power to determine what time we get to the pub on sunday.

Re: Are there any indiepop Kiwis?

Great - I thought last meet up's venue was pretty good. Plus it's close to Sal's if we fancy some pizza, which I almost certainly will. Probably a bit late notice for this Sunday though. Does a weeknight suit people - or next Sunday?

How do you all like my impersonation of an 'organiser'?
