Straight outta Glasgow: Vital Idles

Hey popkids! Just a wee plug for a 7" that just came out on Not Unloved Records. Having lurked on this forum a bunch over the years, I think some of you will dig it. Here's the scoop: Vital Idles are Jess, Nick, Matthew and Ruari (formerly of Night School/Slumberland heroes Golden Grrrls). In 2015 t...

Re: The Pastels

Insane Energy Drop is a great mix too, containing a soul song that I'd been after for ages There's a reissue (possibly grey area) 7" of that Softiques song kicking around. Monorail Music gets it every now and then. It's a fabulous tune! It's pretty cheap on discogs, too: http://www.discogs.com/Soft...

Indeed it is. He's currently doing Record Turnover blog: http://www.kristerbladh.co.uk/blog/

He seems to have gone much more towards the 60s garage/scuzz axis of pop.

Lenzie Moss, recommended by a friend in Glasgow - am enjoying the summery indiepop-ness. Playing Glasgow Popfest too apparently. Free downloadd available at: http://lenziemoss.bandcamp.com/ I really like 'em, too! They played at Stuart Murdoch 's book launch a while back and were just grand. Finlay...

Totally agree...Hydroplane were smashing and "We Crossed..." was a beautiful record! I kinda miss the days when labels released both pop stuff and more esoteric stuff...

Re: Things I am listening to now then

Revisiting this one again a fair bit at present. My favourite single of the whole of 1997, my favourite five and a bit minutes on Wurlitzer Jukebox EVER, and - as described by one fanzine writer at the time - the likeliest outcome of a theoretical collaboration between Richard Wagner and Walt Disne...
