Re: what book are you reading?

Lord, it's quiet on here! I hope this is allowed, but a different forum I go on has a dedicated book mini-forum and it's pretty good....

Is the Mick Trouble 7" going to be available from anyone else in the UK? Those bloody US postage prices....

Re: Comet Gain

Glad you managed to get your money refunded. Did you send payment less than 6 months ago? It looks like M'ladys, despite stating that they'll sort everything out, have now even closed down their Facebook page. Really shitty behaviour. So now, I'm over 50 dollars/ 40 quid down and 'need' to buy the r...

Re: Comet Gain

Ah, fuck m'ladys. Cashflow, whatever, it's no excuse for just ignoring emails, particularly when you've had someone's money for over a year.

Linus, did you get any joy from paypal regarding the refund?

Re: Comet Gain

I've just been having a look around online and there are copies of both albums on Discogs that won't total much more than what I sent to M'Ladys. The label's Facebook page has the following message on it: M'LADY'S NEEDS YOUR HELP hi, everybody. for the past ten years, i've been running this little b...

Maybe it's down to the pressing of the 7" or something?

I got my skinny from a good source
Any news? It's getting a bit silly now. I emailed the label but they couldn't even be arsed to reply.

God, I hate PSB. I think they might be my most hated band. They've only gone and knocked Jamiroquai off his perch.

Re: Allo, Darlin'

If anyone is going to this and would be prepared to pick me up a copy of the 7" single that the band are selling, I'd be so so grateful... Same story - if anyone is going to their shows this weekend and can pick up a copy of the 7" (it's for a friend of mine - honestly!), they'd be soooo grateful. ...

Re: The folk

Claypipe is such a lovely label. On thing I would suggest (which you're probably already doing) is subscribing to their mailing list so you get updates, as their records usually sell out on the day of release.

What? How did I not hear about this (Manchester gig)? Some promoters don't seem to want to actually promote stuff outside their small circle of friends (or I'm just not very good at hearing about stuff like this). Really pissed off I missed this.

Not like the Todmorden Toy Museum anyway. Have they played Indietracks yet? No, but I think The League of Gentlemen may have got a little inspiration from there whilst scouting Todmorden as a possible location for the TV series... http://www.visitcalderdale.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/1...

Re: Halifax

I'm living a bit near Halifax! Just a few stops down the line towards Lancashire, just past Hebden Bridge. I used to like a record shop in Halifax (in the Peace Hall or something) but last time I visited the place, there wasn't really anything decent. Not like the Todmorden Toy Museum anyway.

http://www.gorila.sk/i/imgs_orig/801/733801.jpg Is that the one about words?! There's a really nice story about an apple tree... I'm halfway through Sarah Perry's The Essex Serpent. I'm enjoying it but can't really get totally in to it. I almost feel like I've lost interest in reading, which just s...

Re: The Sarah Records thread

One of The Sea Urchins told me that the picture of the horse on the back of Pristine Christine was a reference to Matt and his apparent ability to eat an apple through a tennis racket. They also told Matt that Patrick had drawn the cover to A Morning Odyssey so they didn't have to try and get copyri...

Of course, the real fairytale ending to this season was the ignominous end to John Terry's career. Real punch the air stuff.

Re: The folk

Anna Gordon makes some pretty great "coffee shop" style folk music. We call it John Lewis advert music over here. Thanks for all the suggestions, comrades. I need to have a proper look. I'm not actually averse to earnest folk and I'm still slightly obsessing over the Radio Ballads, which I won't be...
