Re: Scrabble (and related games, for example Wordfeud)

Apparently the rules of Scrabble have now changed, and you can have proper nouns. Has this been mentioned above? I'm somewhat scandalised, regardless.

Count Arthur Strong

Just listening to Count Arthur Strong on Radio 4. Now on its seventh series. Not sure I'm *that* into it, if I'm honest. But it has its moments. Personally I would much rather hear a new series of Ed Reardon's Week - or Fags, Bags and Mags. I love those two - and really wished I'd taped them when th...

Re: New fanzine 'Candy Twist': contributions wanted!

What's a good way to figure out the right pagenumbers for a fanzine? I was thinking of just using Word (landscape) in combination with Photoshop, but I already see I need to be quite creative with figuring out which text goes where. There's always scissors and glue, of course. You need a pagination...

I genuinely misread this as "Alan Carr." I am not a book-learner. Was it any cop, Trev?
Never finished it. : - (

Will try again after finishing The Air Loom - a tale about madness and conspiracies in the early 19th century.

Re: best books on indie

a few years ago my old band was playing an extra-poorly attended gig in whitby with goldblade afterwards we sat off in the promoter's living room (the promoter crestfallen, thinking of the money he'd lost, and us somewhere between sympathy, guilt for not being a bigger draw and annoyance that it ha...

Re: best books on indie

It's not indie (although I've sneaked many of their short instrumentals onto mix-CDs without any hostility directed my way) but I really enjoyed Things The Grandchildren Should Know by Mark Everett, better known as E from Eels. You don't need to be a fan to enjoy it as it focuses mainly on his fuck...

Re: Why are people putting things out on tape?

On a side note, and as much as I am a vinyl commodity fetishist (which is to say, quite), I think the same could pretty much be said to/for/of vinyl. I'm sure that point has kind of been made, but anyway.

Re: Why are people putting things out on tape?

I think it is because the cassette thing in the eighties was a very democratic, cost effective, pluralist thing- it was a cheap and effective means of sharing your music widely but I don't buy that that is the case now, I think it's quite an elitist thing and the cassette is being used a fetish obj...

Not BILLIONS - but millions, anyway. 4 Yamaha KX580SEs, 6 walkmans/walkmen, 7 boomboxes. That's nearly a million. So yeah - I do stil...
