Re: The Sarah Records thread

Being a 21-year old from America, I have no nostalgic sentiments associated with Sarah. However, I think what they did for independent and underground culture (much less, the indie-pop community) speaks volumes of their worth. There's a great number of excellent, smaller labels producing interesting...

Music blogs?

Hey everyone, does our community know of any cool music blogs (that post downloads/review/etc.)? Indie-pop, twee, etc. would be great, but anything goes. My friend/bandmate runs this one: http://ilockedthedoor.tumblr.com/

Younger Siblings Summer Tour 2012

Hello! I play in the band Younger Siblings. We're from Birmingham, AL. We're obviously indie-pop, think in the oddball sort of vein like They Might Be Giants or The Moldy Peaches. You can listen to us here: http://youngersiblings.bandcamp.com/ Here's a live video of us: http://www.youtube.com/watch?...

iji

iji is an indie-pop band from Seattle, WA. The band is led mostly by one dude, Zach Burba. He's been doing the band since he was a teenager. They just released a new album which I think you guys are gonna love: Yerself They are probably my favorite band ever. This new album specifically is influence...

Re: Albums due for release in 2012

iji from seattle is releasing a new album. the dude actually sent it to me early. it's super 80's influenced. think like channeling the grooves of orange juice or aztec camera in bedroom pop fashion. you guys are gonna love it.

Re: Beat Happening & Calvin Johnson

regarding that black flag/beat happening show that was posted earlier, legend has it that henry rollins grabbed calvin's crotch during beat happening's set to which calvin retorted, "did your mother ever teach you any manners?" or something along those lines.

Re: Down South

i live in birmingham, AL. the indie-pop scene here is lackluster, but i'm trying my best to bring bands through as well as get people excited about it. i think people who come to our city give it a bad rep, but most people here love it and wouldn't trade it for anything else. i'm assuming the person...

Re: The "I just made a song, do you want to listen?" thread.

I wrote a new song today, and I'm rather pleased with it. It's called DAMN YOUR ROBOT ARMS: http://soundcloud.com/vomvorton/damn-your-robot-arms this is cool! i would say definitely track live drums when you record the real thing. EZ drummer is alright, but there's definitely something about the li...
