They describe themselves as a "Nerdy DIY pop punk un-supergroup from Norwich", catchy pop punk with English accents, think Colour Me Wednesday, Martha, etc. Featuring Laura 'Ankles' Coles from Ay Carmela!, Colour Me Wednesday (extended...

Re: gender equality and indiepop

Yeah I totally agree with that, but talking about the stats, getting male promoters to actually be conscious of whether they are as enlightened and feminist as they think they are and to be held accountable for being part of the problem* isn't the same as enforcing a quota, no one is seriously talk...

Re: gender equality and indiepop

Or instead of doing all that, we can request that male promoters and venue owners benevolently allow women to have a voice, by installing a quota, but to me that misses the point and makes me feel a bit sad. We can't get what we want by asking for it from men, we've got to just take it and create i...

Re: gender equality and indiepop

i'm also bored of the 'shirts off, dudes on' boyfest at punk shows. to be honest i hardly know any bands with female members in the 'actively playing out a lot' wing of uk punk - Caves, Town Bike, Puzzle, Great Cynics, Muncie Girls, Martha... Yep, I'll be honest, it's going to be harder to find ban...

Re: gender equality and indiepop

My only objection here is that it seems (from the above quote) some band was asked last minute to help out, they kindly did, and then they got offended for being who they were. I don't know RVIVR and I have no idea who the all-male band are here, but it IS a bit rude. It's a great attitude to striv...

Re: gender equality and indiepop

Wow just thought I'd check out Anorak forum and see this thread has got massive... and I can't... not .... comment again. more trouble in the punk scene, as 50/50 boy-girl quartet RVIVR apparently took objection to an all-male band being one of their supports on their uk tour Haha good for them, tha...
