Re: Your Indietracks 2012 Wishlist (and actual announcements

I feel like I'm probably just repeating everyone else's lists, but just in case someone is counting like they were last year: ALLO DARLIN Au Revoir Simone (never again will I miss them because I'm drinking cocktails) Betty and the Werewolves All Girl Summer Fun Band Ballboy Bearsuit (please play at ...

Re: Allo, Darlin'

Just bought my ticket for the Captains Rest, and found a copy of Tallulah, which I hadn't heard before. Can't stop playing it - its so lovely, and suits how I've felt since leaving my old friends down South and finding some lovely new friends up North. I remember hearing this played live once and it...

Re: Doctor Who

I thought it was just going to be a Shining rip-off. The ad made it look that way last week, but it was pretty good, despite the slightly unconvincing "oh well, that's it, you're off then" at the end. But I suspect they're going to relate that back to whatever the Doctor saw in his room, which we di...

Re: Vegan & Vegetarian Food

Hello hippies scum, I have a LINKY for you. It's one o'them epetitions that are usually used for taking away poo perople's benefits. bringing back capital punishment, and sending 'em back. This one's about labelling stuff as non-veggie/veggie/vegan. Of course it will never happen as there's no clea...

Re: learning foreign languages

I've been toying with the idea of signing up for a Spanish course (again), but I;ve always been shit at learning anything, and I don't know if I can commit to learning lots and lots so as to be any good. And if I'm not going to be any good I won;t have any confidence at all to speak, then I'll forg...

Re: Birmingham

Hello Paul.
Was this the folk festival, Dunc?
Thought I'd re-visit this place. Reading the Birmingham thread can make me rather homesick, but I miss hearing from you guys.

Glasgow is still full of wonderful things. I really should go out and do some of them.

Is it a specifically gay Christian group, Ray? Intriguing mix of subcultures.

Re: Glasgow

The world looks bleak after Indietracks. Any gigs coming up I should know about? YES. Shonen Knife NEXT TUESDAY at...erm.... Nice n Sleazy (had to go check that. Good job I did, my track record at turning up to the correct venue on the correct day is less than perfect). Also, I'm From Barcelona on ...

Re: physically exercising good for the brain

Do you mean in terms of mood? There are quite a few studies that appear to bear that out.
Not sure in terms of mental ability. I can see that certain hormones released might "sharpen" your brain for a short period, but don't know what else it could be.

That's a shame. Might have to be Stereo, then. I am quite excited by the idea of Heavenly. Particularly impressed to learn that, yes, it is named after the band.

Re: Glasgow

That sounds good - I was wondering where to eat beforehand, so that would tick both boxes.
My friend did say she didn't want to arrive at King Tut's too drunk. Oh well, she'll forget that soon enough.

So whereabouts is it?

Re: Doctor Who

I was a bit disappointed in Saturday's episode. It looked so great and scary on the trailer. Felt a bit like a one parter stretched into a two. And generally I'm a fan of longer stories, rather than a convoluted plot that you need an Excel spreadsheet to follow squished into one episode. Visually go...

Re: Vegan & Vegetarian Food

Oh - I just looked this up, and asked about it on the Glasgow thread.
Looks great - I can't access facebook from here, and just wondering whereabouts it is? The web site just says "city centre".
Looking forward to going.

Re: Glasgow

Anyone get to see Allo' Darlin? I see from its web site that this place is now open. Looks great, but it doesn't say where it is! http://www.heavenlyglasgow.co.uk Veggie food and indiepop - what could be finer? But how to find it? Anyone been yet? And whilst I'm asking questions... anyone seeing Jad...
