Re: Glasgow

I think the key to actually getting my arse along to gigs lies in buying the tickets beforehand. I can't believe I've missed so many bands I'd once have raced to see this year. Perhaps some of it is being spoiled for choice in Glasgow, and being a bit blase (or tired, trying to keep up with everythi...

Re: Glasgow

Anyone seeing Low tonight? I have been very remiss and not bought a ticket, and would feel really rubbish if I miss them after missing Architecture in Helsinki too. They do still have tickets, apparently.
But a very big part of me wants to go home and go to sleep.

Re: Is there REALLY no thread about the Eurovision Song Cont

I remember that. "A Song for Eurotrash", it was called. Very, very random collection of artists but some good stuff on there. Particularly (predictably) Kenickie's contribution. And Shane McGowan making Johnny Logan listenable.

Re: Glasgow

Wish I'd seen this earlier. Someone asked me what I'd been up to last night and, despite having felt very busy the last few weeks, I couldn't actually think of anything I'd been out and done.

I think Low are on mid-May. Haven't bought tickets yet.

Re: Running

So... I'm on week 8 of my Couch25k programme, and feel like I'm doing really well. If Google maps is to be believe, I'm doing about 2.5miles each time I run and am not horrendously exhausted or anything like that. I've been using an iPhone app to help me build up and I've found it really useful. My...

Re: Running

Did you overcome your fear? After the first time of venturing out in running leggings, it gets easier. Do any of you run to music, and if you do is it indiepop? I find some songs work wonders when it comes to keeping me going. "We're From Barcelona" by I'm From Barcelona is particularly good if you ...

Well, I completely failed to make it to Architecture in Helsinki. Feel a bit rubbish about that. Did you go and see Richard Wiseman?

Re: Vegan & Vegetarian Food

Ray - you're bound to be more informed about this sort of thing than I am - what do you make of the quinoa boycott thing? The argument seems to be that it is now so expensive in Bolivia, where the bulk of it is grown, that Bolivians can't afford it. Largely, this is because its being scoffed over he...

Re: The Deirdres!

Only 106 days to go 'til Indietracks, tonieeepops. Maybe this is the year when we finally set up our Socialist Republic of Indietracks and stay there forever. Not sure what I think of using the term socialist , but last night I did stray across the piece I wrote titled ' Lessons learned from the In...

Re: The Deirdres!

Wow - those lyrics from the end of "Claire..." are completely different to what I shout along to it.
Its sort of nice to know what it should be. Though I will miss "Madonna", "Liesl", "Camelot", "THE WHOLE SHOW!". Particularly the last one.

I'm From Barcelona were meant to be playing the Arches on Wednesday - I thought it was cancelled, but it appeared in the Guardian on Saturday! Anybody going/ know what is going on? Also - Architecture in Helsinki at Oran Mor on Thursday. I will have to overcome my dislike of Oran Mor (that ceiling i...

Thank you, Dunc... for that and for all the other Autumn Stores. One of the things I miss most about Birmingham. I managed to turn up to work yesterday wearing a Dinosaur Planet badge. Its a professional look, innit?

Re: No More Of Your Fairy Stories - Ramones tribute

Was very excited to see this at Indietracks, and it hasn't disappointed. I agree with the comment upthread - my favourite track was a complete surprise - the version of "Pet Sematary" (probably spelled that wrong). Never heard the Ramones original, and didn't/don't know who Vom Vorton are. I read an...

Re: Glasgow

wow, there's loads there... thanks, folks. I'd definitely like to see Withered Hand and Slow Club, and could maybe scrape the energy together for The Go! Team. (though I'm not keen on Oran Mor - that combination of low ceiling, lots of people and a confined space makes me uneasy). Zoey van Goey migh...
